Average Fuel Cost in France?

Why not fly from London? (if it's cheaper!) Just arrange an overnight stay in a hotle or with friends the night before.

Massive fluctuations for me last week. Pick the right place and you're paying €1.22 a litre, pick the wrong place and you can pay over €1.40.

Edit - sorry, those were diesel prices.

Its not much cheaper (£5-15 per person tops), and I'd end up having to fly to somewhere with a 4hr cramped coach journey at the other end. Defeats the point of flying IMO.

Plus the added costs of getting to london + hotel + food + time, means its more expensive than flying from Manchester.

I'd still have the Ferry to "catch", and the saving is looking to be at least £100 per person.

Also, Scottland, I was looking at SeaFrance rather than P&O, but I haven't looked at norfolkline yet, cheers!

OMG, just looked on P&O - £140 to sail on the 24th Jan!

I'm in France at the moment, Vendee region, prices are pretty much the same in euros as they are in pounds, so its technically cheaper than the UK.

me and a mate got back from a roadtrip. on the big toll roads it was 1.55euro a litre and on the backstreets, at supermarkets etc it was 1.36. Keep off the tolls. Theres equally as good roads that run parrellel to the tolld roads that make for a more intresting drive.

They aren't as quick though, and given its a 14h drive at its best, avoiding the tolls takes you up to 20hrs pretty rapidly!

I am going to be avoiding the tolls around Lyon however as I do know how to get round those without losing much (if any) time.
