I have been a serious photographer for a couple of years now, but in that time I have never bought a photography mag. So I thought I might give a few a read, as I hope they will contain useful news/tips etc, and possibly info on photography related jobs!

So as I have never read any, which ones would you recommend? I wouldnt want any magazines such as 'What digital camera' etc, as I have all the kit I need etc, just a decent general mag - the equivalent of MBUK for us bikers!

Thanks!

I don't think there is an equivalent of MBUK for photographers, thank goodness! :D

I've tried them all over the years, but I generally keep buying Digital SLR magazine because I like the easy going format, and the tutorials in processing and new shooting techniques, and also Professional Photographer as I like the insights into how Pro's make money! They also have some high end kit reviews, which is always nice!

Digital Camera magazine is a decent all rounder I think, covering a bit of everything.

Best bet is to get yourself down to a large WH Smiths or similar and have a browse through them all and see which ones will suit you.

I think camera mags are ok, I just tend to find that (like most hobby mags) they contain the same stuff, month after month after month. Ok some of them have galleries of pictures, and sections explaining depth of field for the 9000th time.
A good quarter of most mags is mainly adverts, which is ok if you like ads, I just think the net is far better.

My dad rates "The British Journal of Photography" very highly, it's only small but it is weekly and the photography within is usually of a high standard
