This will have been said in all the other threads but I want a general OcUK summary.

Is this any good? I want a new game and these looks alrite.

I loved the original UT so will I like this?

It must be good as I can see there is a clan already :p

It's great, though if you live for being a one-man-army you might not like it - there's a strong emphasis on teamplay (clue is in the title) and a moderately cohesive team will dominate a team of 2-3 decent players among noobs. :)

Cool.

Already bought it off steam and it's just downloading so was hoping people could justify it for me :p

From some of the clips, it reminds me of Soldier of Fortune MP which I absolutley loved!

If you've already bought it then anything I say is irrelevant but definitely the best multiplayer I've ever owned!

I personally don't rate it as highly as others out there. I realise that visually it is one of the best looking and most unique out there. The characters are great in themselves and the artwork is very nice. The game is polished and runs amazingly well thanks to the source engine.

However, gameplay wise (for me) seems a tad too simplistic. On that basis i found myself having fun for short bursts at a time and then getting bored pretty quickly. Skill wise, I don't feel the gap is wide enough from the best players out there and the not so good players like there was with Team Fortress Classic on the HL 1 engine (never played the original Quake mod i think it was?)

I really do love the game :)

I do spend most of my time though playing as a medic. I strangely find it fun running around healing players :D

For me that's a positive. If the gap between the very best, the good, the average and the noob is too wide you end up with the very best at the top, the good in second place etc all the time. If the gap is reduced there's a chance that if the very best is having a bad day or the noob plays well that the positions might be changed around a little.

Surely a setup where you have to play well consistently to be at the top is a good setup?

this game is soooooo much fun :D had to buy it after playing the demo and im so glad i did :) really easy to get into, just a really good laugh :) soem so sure about "team" play hehe seems very frantic to me and a frag fest.... which i love :D

abnd currently playing on my ***** lappy at 800x600 low everything with 25fps and it still looks good hehe

Whilst the skill gap isn't as wide as some games, there are still some incredibly good players out there. A smaller gap is good anyway as it means that even if you're an incredibly skilled player, odds are you'll lose if you can't play well as a team.

for me, it was the best mp game of last year, period.

so yeah, it is a really fun game which is hard to say nowadays with realism etc everyone keeps going on about and games especially matches can become extremely competitive. the game is all about team work.

example: where the engineer puts his teleports in conjunction with the map layout. i mean you dont want some idiot to put a teleport that goes right at the front of the battle. you want it a little further back otherwise it will most likely be destroyed as soon as the battle starts.

for me team fortress 2 is special because of the little things you see and do. i want spoil it but im sure you will like it - though i dont think i would compare it to soldier of fortune, im thinking more like XIII or day of defeat in terms of gameplay.

I disagree. If your talking about the gap between good players and noob players on public servers, then yes you could be right. Competitively TF2 is very fun and so much more challenging than public play. It's almost like a completely different game to me when I play matches compared to playing public.

This is a very very fun game. Was getting my arse handed to me so had to camp right at the back as a sniper and just pick off the heads :p

Excellent game! :D

it sure is, one of my favourites at the moment.

though if your playing public (i guess you will be for now) try and go on servers that have the bog standard respawn times. its more fun, and less rush rush get you in and die tactics. i play on the multiplay dustbowl server 02 most of the time or hampshire heavies servers. i think quite a few people from ocuk play there too.
