My New Wheels

I didn't recieve a "voucher" as such.

I basically chose the bike, then ordered it with Cycle Scheme. They then sent me out paperwork with costings, which i had to sign 3 times, one for me, one for work, and one for Wheelies (company who supply the bikes). Once my HR department at work signed it off, they called me to arrange delivery. Whole process took less than 7 days.

Quite a few guys at my work have done this scheme, works out you save quite a bit over the standard price. They had to be sent a voucher for it but will depend on how you do it I think.

Would have thought a one of those touring/road bikes woulda been better for running to work? Unless you're doing a bit of biking in your spare time :)

Surely for a ride to work you want a road bike? Mountain bikes suck balls :/

OR you just run 2 sets of wheels, 1 normal mtb set and 1 set of slicks. I did this and a mountain bike fitted with slicks is amazing on the road compared to mtb tyres. Higher average speed, better accelration, less fatigue and drag-free in comparison to the normal wheels. If you fit a large outer crank ring then you can really fly along nicely.

I did this for years when I was a yute and came to the opinion that road bikes suck balls as good luck swapping the wheels and going for a monster downhill in comfort/in one piece ;).

Just no, sorry, a road bike will absolutely kill a mountain bike with tarmac tyres on it. Ive know, Ive tried (and own) both.

At which point did I say that a MTB with slicks would beat a road bike? Erm, I didn't. What I said was a MTB running slicks on the road was A LOT better than running mtb tyres...

What I also said was that a MTB was a far more versatile bike than a road bike and I find them to be nice and comfortable to boot.

You said :-

road bikes suck balls

:p

Errmm.......no, they don't.

For getting from A to B on tarmac a road bike is a million times better performing than an MTB, even if it has road tyres.

Just the same as for getting from A to B via dirt tracks, an MTB is the best option.

Two distinctly different things.

I know what you are trying to say though, I won't dispute that an MTB is more flexible in use than a road bike, there's obviously no way a performance road bike could be used even on slightly rough ground.

However, they most definately do not "suck balls". :D

I have a mtb but put semi slicks on it for going to work, it can go off road but not when its wet.

A mtb bike with chunky tyres on a road is so hard going there is no roll in the tyres as there is with slick or semi

Going to look into it for Jane as we have just started heading down to Thetford forrest on a weekend and her Apollo is holding her and therefore me back :D

Lol, me saying that was in no way saying that a mtb was faster on the road though. I merely said it to poke fun at Jez's 'sucks balls' comment :D ;)

/me shuffles off again.

LOL!!!

I didn't even notice Jez posted that cheeky comment first!!!.

Thought you were the first to throw the ballz. :p :D

Mountain bikes suck balls :/

Go wash your mouth out Jez :p

Here's my bike i got through the same scheme at my old work:
