Well the flooding tore my sump cover half off on my golf yesterday, iv had a look and its not really repairable, i got 2 options, rip it off and leave it off, or rip it off and replace.

At the moment when i drive over speedbumps or bumps in the road it scrapes along the floor :(

Has anyone else just tore theres off and left it off?

Not had mine on for a good 4 months now (since the engine swap). It will be going on before winter, but its certainly not "needed".

Mine should be pretty much identical to yours (SEAT Leon).

EDIT: I am assuming here you actually mean "undertray" and not "sump guard".

Funnily enough mine got caught last week as i was driving over a speed bump and its now hanging half on, half off. Been meaning to have a look at it but not ideal with weather, i got told the same as paradigm says, not really needed don't worry about it. I'm going to try and either put it back on or replace though before winter, that and the noise of it catching is annoying me everytime i reverse.

I think mine's been missing for some time now. I think I lost it along the motorway - it must have got torn loose and then finally comeoff... I remember hearing a thumping noise under the car

Off she comes

Im abit worried about any connectors getting wet or pipes getting damaged underneath, i might take it into a garage and see how much it will cost to get sorted.

they annoy mechanics that dont carry out work properly.

its just part of the car, if someone cant be arsed to put that back on properly, what else cant they be arsed to do etc?
