**SPORE**

It would be interesting to know how those getting attacked all the time on the space stage played their earlier levels.
My creature was herbivore and used mainly friendship and diplomacy until the end of the civ stage and i'm finding the space stage a friendly place on the whole. I'm wondering if those who are having trouble used mainly force and were carnivores for the majority of the game, and so the game is being equally hostile back to them in the final phase.

My creature's a carnivore and I played aggressive all the way through until I reached the space age. So far I've not had anyone take me to war, worst I've had is someone who was cautious of me and would attack if I stayed in their space for too long... did a mission for them then they were happy too.

Loving the space stage too, it's so vast. I did kinda feel bad about exterminating the native species of one planet I found (which was in the tribal stage) so I could plant a colony. :p

How?

I've gone to NVIDA Control Panel, Manage 3D settings, Global Settings and put everything high but it doesn't seem AA is on in game.

Ok I wa splaying this until 4am last night and have just got onto the start pf the space stage here are my thoughts...
  • Cell stage is fun but a bit pointless imo, very simplistic and doesn't really add much to the game. Takes a bit long too, which means it can get repetitive.
  • Creature stage is a good laugh but I found certain aspects a bit confusing at first... such as some part of the communication/relationships not being consistent (sometimes I could charm my guys instantly, other times only the right side fo the pink friend-o-meter went up and the left stayed down. Why? Either way it was fun building up my creature and giving it uber abilities before taking my pack out on a rampage... I highly reccommend the best pair of wings beore you move to tribal stage... it makes you bad-ass!
  • Tribal stage was again good fun... but it doesn't really encourage co-operation with other tribes... it's much less hassle (and much more fun) to just go and wipe them all out. Either way there's no challenge or strategy to it, it's just the visual charm that gets you through.
  • Civilization stage was quite fun with designing your own ships and houses... but again I think that after a while this would get very very old... going forward for future games they need to implement some sort of auto-build optionto stop it getting too tiring. The gameplay in this bit again had very little challenge... just get all your cities to 1200+ incomem build enough turrets, spam enough powerful air units, and you'll be fine. Again, very little strategy.
  • Space stage... i'lll tell you soon... just started it but so far seems interesting enough and my ship does look awesome.
I really think this game is one that will get better as content is released... I think it was a great and ambitious concept that couldn't quite be implemented how thy wanted, and that extra content and patches will bring it into its own. However immediate concerns are a real lack of strategy and substance underneath some of the stages... I didn't quite get that sense that I was a God doing epic things. I wanted to see more interaction with the populace, and see the effect my decision have on them on a more personal level... something I don't feel that the Tribal or Civ stages let me do. I want Black & White style detail.

Visually the game looks fantastic... it's got one of those 3D engines that you can't just help but love, everything is rendered properly and it all runs butter smooth on my ageing 8800GT at 1680*1050. No complaints there at all.

We'll see how it goes... but the fact I was up till 4am last night playing it and had no idea where the time went (time junmped 2 hours each time I glanced at the clock lol) bodes wel. I hope they make something ogf the game, or even ensure that they learn from any drawbacks of this game and make Spore 2 a true 'evolution' of the genre. :)

You were abducted by aliens playing a real life game of spore.

I stuck it on today and played the first stage, seemed very simple (like a flash sort of game). Ill have a crack at the next stage tonight, it made me smile though when i sung to the first other tribe i met, a nice happy feeling inside.

I assume the Space stage reactions to you (attacked a lot, loads of war etc.) are based on your habits in the previous stages... so, is it possible to go back and redo a level, start from a certain point in the timeline?

Just got to the civ stage and hav to say im LOVIN making vehicles and buildings!!
Just spent like the last hour making The Tumbler from batman begins, pretty proud of it :D

How do i start again from certain phase?

Ive got a save on Civ phase and its impossible to win so I want to restart that phase again but cant find how :/

Can someone please explain the battle mechanics of this game please.

does the exact positioning and shape of weapons and your creatures body actually matter or is it just whoever has the highest level stuff wins?

Thanks

The positioning doesn't make a difference, they only add to the power/speed/defence ratio of the things.

If they had made it so that things like that mattered, then it would have been an uber-game.

ohhh that's crap then

there I was spending ages making well tactical creatures.

So even if you have all your weapons on the back and u attack from the front it won't make a difference?

If you start a new game, you have the option of starting from any of the phases you've already played. Weirdly, even without completing a phase, you can also start from the one after it i.e. if you've only got to creature, a new game will allow you to start from tribal etc.
