Decent DVD Ripper

Can anyone reccomend some decent software to rip DVD's into DivX? Yes this is for legit purposes so I can put videos onto my mp3/video player.

I really want something which can utilize all 4 cores of my CPU for decent performance.

Any suggestions?

I used Magic DVD Ripper which did the job required fine. It used both of my cores, but not sure on quads.

That's probably the limit of the DVD drives.

Is IMGBURN a updated version of DVD Decrypter? Looks very similar. But does it rip DVD-Videos?

Burning a DVD (4.7G) takes rougly 11mins and obviously double that for dual layer disks.

Time to rip the movie was 1hr 25mins - So it cant be the drive being a bottleneck.

It's frustrating in that I've gone from an E6400 to a Q6600 and can't find any ripper which will properly utilize 4 cores.

IMGBURN won't do it if it's copy protected. DVD Decypter is by same deleloper and has done the job well in the past but maybe there's better available now.

I use DVD Decrypter and then DVD Shrink. Is Autogk better than DVD Shrink then?

DVD Shrink worked well for me but it's development stopped before multi cores really existed so it's a single core app

Aha. Given that I've just got a Q6600, Autogk seems like the way to go. Thanks for the info!

I use AnyDVD + Handbrake. It's doesn't encode to DivX but does use both cores of my CPU.

Worth a look if you don't mind H.264 instead of DivX.

Really good bit of software that is constantly being updated.
