Can anyone reccomend some decent software to rip DVD's into DivX? Yes this is for legit purposes so I can put videos onto my mp3/video player.

I really want something which can utilize all 4 cores of my CPU for decent performance.

Any suggestions?

Burning a DVD (4.7G) takes rougly 11mins and obviously double that for dual layer disks.

Time to rip the movie was 1hr 25mins - So it cant be the drive being a bottleneck.

It's frustrating in that I've gone from an E6400 to a Q6600 and can't find any ripper which will properly utilize 4 cores.

Is IMGBURN a updated version of DVD Decrypter? Looks very similar. But does it rip DVD-Videos?

IMGBURN won't do it if it's copy protected. DVD Decypter is by same deleloper and has done the job well in the past but maybe there's better available now.

DVD Shrink worked well for me but it's development stopped before multi cores really existed so it's a single core app

I use AnyDVD + Handbrake. It's doesn't encode to DivX but does use both cores of my CPU.

Worth a look if you don't mind H.264 instead of DivX.

since we're on the subject

i've got a wedding file that my sister gave me, it's a .ogm video file, and it's got two audio tracks, how can i delete one permanently

quickly and free :)

DVDFab Platinum

I use DVDFab Platinum, it makes perfect backups of DVDs + you can rip to a mobile device and watch your DVD on the move, you can try it free for 30 days, and the only thing is now you have to pay for updates after the first year, I bought mine before May 2008 and get all updates for free. Really good bit of software that is constantly being updated. :D
