Samsung Omnia I900 owners thread.

IF any of those things do start happening, how long have you got with contract phones to exchange them? Is it a year of something (even if you ordered online/over the phone)? I don't really have much experience in this area - things don't usually go wrong for me :p Although, today after switching on this morning I had a bluetooth.exe crash (even tho I didn't have bluetooth enabled) but I guess you have to get used to things like that if you're going to be using a ms os... I just restarted and the error was gone.

I've got TomTom installed and working on my phone now (massive thanks to Camalot ;) ) and it works fantastically! Has anyone had any experience of putting any other map packs on? Specifically I'm interested in getting a European map pack installed. I'm off to Croatia in the week for the match and I think I would be quite handy to have a bit of SatNav going in the hire car :D

Still no sign of the 16 GB MicroSDHC card either - I've sent emails to a load of UK eTailor's and no one seems to know anything. I've also got a pal who lives in Malaysia on the look out for them or even the 12 GB ones.

SW.

waranty is aslong as contract.

This is my first post so please excuse me if this seems rather obvious.

I have the backlight to turn off after 10 seconds and the screen to turn off after a minute. The problem is if I listen to the radio everything goes off and I can listen to the radio not wasting by battery having the screen on. The problem is when I listen to mp3's the backlight goes off but the screen stays on.I have tried using the manual phone lock and the backlight goes off instantly but yet again the screen stay on.

So, can you listen to mp3's without having the screen on?

Thanks

An odd WM quirk is that when you press the X button to close a program, it doesn't actually close. Bring up the task manager from programs, I bet you have a tonne of apps still running.

By default the phone seems to want to store everything in my documents when the 16gb of space is actually 'my storage'. If you've been storing stuff in my documents then you'll soon run out of space.

I have done all that closed everything down still get the same message it wont even let me send a text for some reason.
I think it will be going back as soon as

Have you been saving stuff in 'my documents' or anywhere other than 'my storage' as I mentioned above?

Are you sure the video you were trying to send didn't arrive? Have a look in my documents/generally for any files that you might have transferred etc. What does it say when you go in to 'memory' in the settings?

the video never got there it got about half way and the new phone said not enough memory so i stoped sending.
Any way i have packed it all up and its going back tomorrow cant do with a phone if you cant even send a text it may be just a dud phone who knows

Hi all
does anyone know of a good bit of software that allows you to change the standard ringtones / sms tones to ones you have stored on your phone ?
I have tried Ringo Version 1.3 and works a treat...but been having problems with the phone not waking up and having to reset it .
I removed ringo and all seems well now.
Just wondered if there was an alternative ?
Thank

its mentioned somewhere in this thread. think you gotta put the tones on the actual phone memory rather than the 8/16gb memory or something like that

Hi guys..

I got my i900 on vodafone yesterday. It comes with ACHH1 firmware. Has the haptic (vibration) feedback etc. Phone seem great so far. I have a few questions for you Omnia Pros out there:

1) I dont have the Google (mail/maps) app installed - I have Voda Navigator instead. Is it possible to download a WM6 app for GMaps, I can't find one on the google site.

2) As soon as my wifi goes down, the phone makes a gprs data call to regain net access. Is there a way to stop this? I dont want it to make data calls automaticaly.

...installing Spb Mobile Shell 2.1.1 in a bit....

appreciate any help you guys have [good thread so far]

Unsure with #1. I did try googlemaps but it didn't seem to want to do anything apart from crash! Tomtom7 works a treat though.

As for the second point, this is normally because there is a web-based app still open. Check the task manager and close all web related programs. Also check to see if your mail clients are set to auto check for new mails, if so set it to manual.

I had the same thing, i had over 7GB of space, but i was getting critical errors when sending/receiving txts about low memory.

Although I haven't tried downloading it (my Omnia has it pre-loaded) is this not the same thing? http://www.google.com/mobile/winmo/maps/

Does it actually make a call or are you just talking about the G/3G icon at the top of the screen? Tap it, does it have a timer for how long you've been connected? Mine only tries to connect if I'm actively using data.

i currently have a k800i on 02, with simplicity £20 a month, so 100text and 600minutes/unlimited web( i think)

It's a good upgrade, i come from a K810i.

Photo wise, personally im not impressed with the Omnia. Outside it takes nice photos. Inside photos seem foogy/lacksharpness.

Buying them sim free are £300+ i think?

Hi guys, thanks for your responses.

Firstly: I am aware when wifi goes down while using a web-based app, the phone will then automatically connect to gprs. This IS what it does to me, but dont want the process to be automatic. I want it to never use a mobile data connection unless I tell it to. I.e if using opera with wifi, and wifi connection goes down, I'd prefer it didnt do anything, and waited for me to use gprs if I wanted to - is this possible??

Secondly: I went to the mobile page for Google Maps and was prompted to download "Google Maps for your Samsung mobile". I did so, and it's just a Java App, which doesnt recognise any touch controls - does anyone know of a PPC/WM Google Maps app?
