I've been getting a bad smell in my fabia and it's driving me mad! It's always there after a bout of rain so I thought it might be damp but I've checked the carpets, footwells and they are all dry. I even get the smell when the car is in the carport. Anyone got any ideas? Could it be something to do with the aircon? It's still under warranty so it looks like I'll have to take it back to the garage.

My car sometimes smells of damp when I turn it on at the moment, I can't work it out, but it seems to be only start smelling once the blower fan is on so I think it must be the pollen filter, anyone know how much they cost roughly? and can I change it myself?

Pull the pollen filter out and give it a sniff to see if its that

Its easy to locate on the fabia just look under the front passenger side dash and there's a couple of sliders you push together to release.

I sometimes get a damp smell if I turn the aircon on then off quickly. Try running the aircon longer and it should clear.

Just got in the car again and the smell is terrible. Checked the footwells again and the rear passenger side one is soaking underneath the mat. Just found some more stuff on this and quite a few people are saying it's due to the rear ancilliaries carriers leaking water in.

I've only had the car for a couple of months and it's still under warranty till Dec 2009. Will this be covered by the warranty or will they fob me off?

This thread title made me laugh because in my language a Fabia is a fish :p

After a while of owning a skoda, the driver develops an odd smell which is only smellable to them in their car, it's common through skoda drivers. Smells a bit like mints and wee... :D

Its a common fault and most fabias seem to be affected

Ours got done under warranty if I were you I would say water is leaking from the bottoms of all the door cards to get them sealed up.

Theres a guide on Briskoda.net if you fancy seeing whats required.

Open the bonnet, aim centrally behind the engine, slightly to the passengers side and feel around.

The drainage sucks and clogs up with the slightest thing, water should come gushing out. Basically it fills up and backs into the pollen filter.
