Iam having abit off trouble figuring out how to get each PC to see each other over my home wireless network.

I have done this before, but it was some time ago now.

Ive set up the same workgroup name on each PC, but now where do I go?

Which problem in particular are you having? Just one viewing the other?

Can either PC see the other?

If they can't see each other, can you still access the shares using the network address.

Example - \\ComputerName\Sharename etc....

I can see both computers, thats fine but when I try to access a folder this comes up

This may help Iam running Vista X64 Ultimate no SP and XP Pro SP2

Also when I try using remote desktop thats not working either.

Have you tried running the network setup wizard on the XP machine? Also ensure all the options are correct in the network & sharing centre under Vista, some of the defaults will limit network shares etc.

Is the XP machine using Simple file sharing? Does it have any group policy modifications?

Were the shares previously accessible?

Simple file sharing?

Yes it has worked in the past. But Ive changed things around abit. Both PC's are wireless.

Yup ran the network setup wizard on the XP machine, and changed a few settings in the network & sharing centre in Vista. Ive just left printer sharing and password protected sharing off.

if your trying to acess it with an account with no password xo doesn't allow it by default, you'll have to either put a password on or disable that option in reg

Just goin off the top of my head, you said you have printer sharing turned off and I presume your using simple file sharing mode? On XP when you run the networking wizard, it gives you the option to turn file AND printer sharing on and off as one option, i.e. selecting off turns both file and printer sharing off and not one or the other, maybe you have that turned off (unless you've chosen not to share printers a different way?)

Yer printer sharing is off, well its off on the option of vista. Cant remember what option I used on the XP when using the network wizard.

At present, ive I can access all the files on the XP machine from Vista, but when I try to access the folders on the XP machine from Vista I can only access the public folder and another that I made (Apps).
