Very good film imo, maybe not a horror as such but its much more realistic than these American teeny horrors about. Really enjoyed it.

Not 100% sure on the Strangers, its worth a watch but wasn't brilliant. I was more interested in the story behind it but apparently there isn't one.

The mist is worth a watch. There are quite a few decent horror movies but you've probably seen a lot of them, this is the newest horror Ive seen and was an OK watch.

The shining
it's the only horror film that will still scare and enchant people 100 years on kubrick the master.
The Amityville Horror (1979)< vastly underrated imo it still has that magic creepy enchanting scary feel about it

Frontiers...yes, it's french but maybe the best horror movie I have seen in 10+ years...very gory and has a strong social/political message...ignore all the hostel and TCM comparisons, it is far superior.

Don't bother with either of these. They're both pretty dire.

Frankly, if you're looking for a 'good' scary film in English, you'll have difficulty.

The Devil's Rejects and The Descent are a couple of the better ones in English.

Frontiers...yes, it's french but maybe the best horror movie I have seen in 10+ years...very gory and has a strong social/political message...ignore all the hostel and TCM comparisons, it is far superior.

OK seriously.. what is the point in recommending this film? Yes it's good, scary, gory etc but it's in French. Quite irrevelant to the OP.

Id say Alien, The Hills Have Eyes, Wolf Creek, The Decent maybe some Halloween & Texas Chainsaw. If you want more moving/disturbing films then Dead Mans Shoes, Requiem for a Dream, Taxi Driver, Se7en, The Cell.
