Amir Khan vs Briedis Prescott

Glass chin or not, the best fighters don't take those shots.

I disagree. Did you see margarito's recent fight? Have you ever seen barrera, morales, corrales etc fight? Some fighters can take one hell of a beating and still keep coming.

Offensively he is world class, defensively he is miles off.

I agree with the second part, but how you can call him offensively world class when he hasn't faced one worthy competitor yet is beyond me?

I said 6 months ago he should in the US training with roger mayweather, the man who taught flloyd to slip those types of shots.

I agree Khan needs to adopt a mayweather style of fighting, mayweather is probably the best defensive fighter of all time. I don't think he has what it takes.

Do all world champions never lose a fight then?

It's a fair comment.... Wlad got KTFO by a pro golfer and he's the recognised #1 Heavyweight in the world.

Difference being that Khan hasn't showed anything up to this point which could suggest he will ever be World Class or even European Class.

I think the best thing he can do is go after Murray for the British Title... Murray is not unbeatable although he would be one of the best fighters Khan has faced.

Just watched his entrance to the ring which makes it all the more embarrassing.

I think he should just be grateful for all the money he has made and then just get back to the dayjob. Having a weak chin and being poor defensively isn't going to get him anywhere, even with a good defense he can't expect to not get caught a few times by the better boxers.

One of the sky commentators who was covering the fight was interviewed on Talksport this morning on the sports breakfast, he agrees with me in that Khans career is basically over he says you just dont come back from it, he hopes he does, but everybody in the world now knows that the lad just cant take a shot, he'll fight, but he's no challenger.

It was a bit of a con sticking it on PPV, but I'm not going to sit here saying he deserved getting ktfo in such spectacular fashion. Yes he has flaws, but not everyone can be like Floyd Mayweather, and I think it's a little mean spirited to gloat on it tbh.

He's got a glass jaw but a real champion would find a way round this problem. Look at Joe, before he broke his hand he was pretty heavy handed and had a large % of KO's. Now he can't hit as hard he uses speed and workrate more. I hope Amir can do the same with his dodgy jaw, learns to defend and move better.

If I'm looking for a loud mouth to get his cumuppance then it's got to be David Haye.

Ok lets get some facts straight here son:

How can you say Khan is offensively world class...What world class opponents has he beat to backup that comment, I'd sure like to know. All I have seen from Amir Glass Chin Khan so far is hand picked fighters that Frank Warren has put before him and most of them have been mediocre at best.

I mean Amir wouldn't even fight John Thaxton, who is a half decent fighter at best, yet Amir Khan keeps talking about fighters such as Juan Diaz, Nat Campbell etc... lol they would slaughter him. It would be embarrassing for the lad.
Does Khan actually know he is fighting in one of the toughest divisions in boxing. The lightweight division if full of world class fighters, who he has quite frankly NO CHANCE of beating the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Joel Casamayor, Juan Diaz, Nat Campell & Yuri Romanov of this world.

It really annoys me that Amir Khan and his crew seem to think he is so special but they seem to forget they pulled Amir out of the fight with Thaxton. Now if Khan wants to be a legit lightweight contender even a Champion one day, then why in the hell did he not fight Thaxton. Don't play the khan didn't have the experience he's had 19 fights now. If he talks big he should step up to the challenge not run.

All that is going to happen now is Frank Warren will start again putting in p*ss poor opponents for another 2 years which make him look phenomenal and try and build him up again as the next big thing and you know how easy it is to get the British media hyped up.

Also Speedfreak mate, he is with Freddy Roach who is renown as one of the best trainers in boxing, currently training Manny Pacquiao for his joke of a fight with Oscar dela Hoya. Which will Be good for Khan as he needs as much world class training as he can get, but it won't fix his glass chin.

Rant over :D

Pretty much agree with you azza21, thing that gets to me the most is the way they keep building him up to be some sort of legend when he's done nothing, and then try and charge ppl £15 for PPV, its a joke.

And your right, the lightweight division is flooded with a lot of talent, which he has no chance against right now. I can see him being given another year of rubbish unknowns/blown up featherweights, but I think he will have to move up to light welterweight somewhere down the line. Maybe we will see that Khan - Hatton fight he was talking about afew months ago? :p

Oh well a good few months ahead for boxing fans, Pavlik - Hopkins, Hatton - Malignaggi, Calzhage - Jones, De La Hoya - Pacquaio... :)

Listen sonny jim,

Khan has excellent handspeed and is an accurate puncher. That part of his game is worldclass and hard to deny. The importance of offence over defence is an endless arguement, one with no correct answer. All we know for sure is that you need some form of both to succeed. The importance of a good defence is lessened if you have a head like margarito, but in Khan's case, avoiding all contact is his only option.

Is the kid world class? no, but aspects of his abilities are. The problem he has is that his weakness far outweighs his strengths at the minute. Personally I want to see a rematch as in my eyes he needs to avenge his defeat.

As for his coach, it was a poor appointment, however the defeat was Khan's own fault. His over confidence (not helped by Warren or the media) caused him to be wreckless from the start of the fight. Roach is a great trainer, one who he will do well to listen to. If he gets to spar with Manny, he may learn a thing or two, in reality probably how to pick himself off the floor frequently, but you always learn more from a defeat than a victory. We'll see how Hatton looks next month with Mayweather as his trainer. If he is actually leading with a jab and not his forehead it'll be an improvemnt! i still think Khan would learn more of what he needs from Mayweather, but in all honesty, he needs tough sparring partners in an environment outside of his comfort zone, and that's what he's going to get.

rant over! :p
