S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky - Gone Gold

Just reverted to an earlier save game that wasn't corrupt and all is working fine now. Just kicked the asses of those Stalkers at the farm in the swamp, this early game seems harder than SoC though.

Yeah it really does, i quite like that, hopefully gonna get a lot of gametime on this wednesday, like what i've played so far :D

Is this a system killer ?
In DX10 with everything on, yeah it is, but it seems to scale down pretty well. Even DX9 + full dynamic lighting (several settings below full) it still looks really nice.

Just on the 1.1/1.2 patch - savegames from 1.1 won't work with 1.2 so bare that in mind the people who are not waiting for the 1.2 patch.

I thought it was when I started a new game with everything on full DX9 (except AA) on a 2.4Ghz Opteron + ATI4850 that the performance was horrible. Really bad. Then the sun came up fully and I turned the grass density down by half and now it's almost as smooth as SoC was :)

1.1 saves wont work on 1.2??

What.... gutted! is this def right? i'm about 6/7 hours into it now on 1.1 and dont want to start again.

I remeber when the 1st patch came out for SoC the saved games stopped working but further patches worked ok??

I really dont want to have to start again.

Does anyone know whats comming in 1.2?

One good point is that there doesn't seem to be a problem with the Starforce protection system messing up systems, or is it a different protection system they used?

Damn what a shoddy release.

Firstly it runs like poo in dx9 on my 9800gtx 2gig e8200 @ 3.5ghz XP system. When i run crysis comfortably on high/v.high @ 1900x1200 w/o AA this just seems a joke as although it looks nice, crysis is in a different league, this just seems poorly optimised. Is there something i am missing here?

I can run it on 1680x900 okish if i turn sun shadows off, but thats only just 30fps, and without AA it looks really ugly. Should I just play it in full dynamic rather than enhanced lighting? Whats the point in having all these graphical features shoehorned in, when no-one can play with them?

None of this really matters because i can only play 20 minutes before it blue screens.

I loved S.T.A.L.K.E.R and had no problems at release unlike most people, this is very dissapointing. Hope the gameplay makes up for it when the inevitable patches come.

Patch 1.2 translation here :- http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=272570&page=5

I felt the same with Crysis, IMO they should leave out those options and make them availablle when there is a faster range of videocards later on.

Completely disagree.

People should just stop whining that they're expensive computers can't run a game on full settings, when those settings are effectively meant for the next generation of stuff to come out.

If a company can add more visual stuff to a game, they should do, they shouldn't hold it back just incase someone can't run it.

I got my copy in the post yesterday and the version is 1.5.01 or something? Where is this 1.1/1.2 patch info coming from? bit confused.....

After searching I found the 1.5.03 upgrade hidden on deepsilvers site.

What is the point of having a setting that runs crap, there isn't any.

Why not make a patch that enables Very high and Ultra later on.

Yes there is, it makes the game more futureproof as people will still be able to play it on future generations of hardware, and still get graphical improvements from their upgrades.
