**SPORE**

Um, guys... You have essentially 'rented' Spore when you went out and 'bought' it.

Another gamer was just as blunt. "The DRM on this thing is less friendly than my recent colonoscopy—you get three installs. That's it. No install returned for uninstallation, or anything else. You install it three times, then you're out $50," he wrote. "I won't rent my video games, EA."

lol so you don't get the installs back? you only get 3 +1 if you call?

Does it throw a hissy fit if the hardware changes and count it as a new pc?

I'm guessing its not that hardcore.

But if your game corrupts and u have to re install, there goes 'one' of your installs.

Complete bullshlack to be quite honest, EA aren't doing the PC industry any favours.

That's worked for you?

Yeah, never had a problem. :)

Just make sure that when you walk in you come across as confident and look them in the eye when explaining just why you don't agree with whatever clause you've chosen and it works a charm. :)

Sorry to come across thick and i know i should hunt down the info im after but could some one sum the game up in a few words > what is spore all about.

many thanks jamie.

Spore is a multi-genre massively single-player online game. It allows a player to control the evolution of a species from its beginnings as a unicellular organism, through development as an intelligent and social creature, to interstellar exploration as a spacefaring culture. It has drawn wide attention for its massive scope, and its use of open-ended gameplay and procedural generation.

Just to redirect the thread slightly, how are people getting on in the Space stage?

I've got myself into space in two separate games now and in both I have come to a point where I am being attacked relentlessly by two races that decided to go to war with me without any intervention. This makes playing very difficult as I cant spend any time doing anything other than chase attackers, I cant build up any money so cant buy any upgrades resulting in a stagnant game.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Wait for a patch to fix it, because as it stands the mechanics are broken.

i kind of agree. how i can suddenly go from a mental badass mofo killing machine, destroying everything in my path with superior strength and numbers to a situation where in order to get more than one ship i have to ally with people? it is totally opposite to how i've been playing the game.

i tend not to talk to people in space that try and contact me, i contact them. the time that i did respond they attacked me and are still attacking me.

i've also read some tips that say you never actually "lose" the game. your homeworld can be destroyed but you never actually lose. i have 2 other colonies that are more productive than my homeworld so rather than rebuild every time, i fight off the invaders and just leave it all burning and do other stuff.

killing the bad guys drops cash and spice too so i collect that and sell it. i'm yet to find the badge that unlocks the decent weapons and planetary defences though.

I try not to build up expectations, and have not been getting involved in the hype of this game, but when I first read about it I got the impression that when designing a creature, it may fail or succeed based on its design (Basically meaning you had to create some kind of viable creature or it would die off and you would fail).

So now its just a case of design it and it will succeed? IS that the case? Could I design a one legged, no eyed, top heavy monster and it will succeed in "evolving"?

The worst part for me so far is spending money and time building up allies, then swooping down to collect spice. BUT, because of the RUBBISH control of the tractor beam and the stupid people running around it I end up sucking about 12 of them up with the spice causing the planet to go wild and attack me!!! Next thing they are enemy and chase me across the galaxy.

Stupid tractor beam. It's happened about 10 times now, I even fly really low and try it but they all go nuts!

Played it all yesterday, technically can complete the game in 1 sitting, which for me is completely crap. I want to be playing it for weeks not hours.

Everything is easy, far too easy, if like me your used to being challenged and having to use your brain, then this will not feed your craving.

This game, as stated is for the Casual gamer market. Pick up, install play 2-3 hours get to the end stage, casual's are happy.

I'm waiting for the endless stream of pay to play content and expansions to match. "Spore: College years!"

Personally i think its about time the games industry moved away from catering to the casual thick player market and stay with the hardcore gamers. That is where all the good games lie. This sadly will be boxed and put in a dusty shelf to live a long death there.

Waste of money.
