**SPORE**

The worst part for me so far is spending money and time building up allies, then swooping down to collect spice. BUT, because of the RUBBISH control of the tractor beam and the stupid people running around it I end up sucking about 12 of them up with the spice causing the planet to go wild and attack me!!! Next thing they are enemy and chase me across the galaxy.

Stupid tractor beam. It's happened about 10 times now, I even fly really low and try it but they all go nuts!

You just need to hover above or fly past the planet to pick up spice. Thats all i do anyway.

I feel the same way :(

And god dammit someone answer me about multiple wings!! I want my 8 legged 6 winged creature to fly to the moon! I was sure if you built more wings you could fly better?!

Every body piece has stats, the maximum any piece can improve a particular stat is +5, but early on you willl only have +1 and +2 items. When you place two or more items that boost the same stat the one with the highest bonus is taken as your stat buff. So, having a +3 set of wings and a +4 set of wings will give you +4 to gliding.

Note that after jumping with the space bar, keep hitting the space bar to flap your wings and stay in the air.

Personally i think its about time the games industry moved away from catering to the casual thick player market and stay with the hardcore gamers. That is where all the good games lie. .

That is not where the money lies though, unfortunately.

I was hoping for a much deeper, richer game too. Something intelligent, with perhaps some real science behind it, or at least some serious thought, but as soon as I saw the screen grabs jsut before release I was put off as I could see it had turned into a kid-friendly game.

Oh well, I hope some get enjoyment out of it.

Though they really have shot themselves in the foot with the DRM, which does nothing to prevent piracy and only makes the paying customer suffer. It's like they are trying to kill off PC gaming - release a title, make people not want to pay for it, scream "Bloody pirates", and then eventually make the move to console only development... no games on pc, people will have to buy consoles, and then they will sell the games anyway.

The Oblivion thread convinced me I need to re-buy Oblivion on PC rather than get Spore... :D
Looks like it's forced the right decision, especially if it is true that you don't get any activations back for uninstalling the game. That's ridiculous.

You can install the games as many times as you like... you just have to ring EA each and every time after 3 installs. Which is possibly the worst implementation of anti-piracy i've ever seen in a game.

Laughable really when you consider the pirate copy just needs a simple crack and then it can be installed as many times as you want. Yet another example of anti-piracy hurting the consumer, not the pirates.

Its stupid because to get away from their DRM you have to download a pirated version. So the best version of the game out at the moment is the one they don't want you to have.

Getting attacked and having to constantly "save a planet" is really annoying. If these events happened every 10 mins it wouldnt be so bad but trying to have a minute of trading and making cash without having an alert is rare.

Also only having 1 ship + a few allies is useless. Why cant i have a fleet of ships to give me a chance against invaders instead of dying 3 times before i've wiped them out? Apart from that is not that bad a game, just tedious at the moment.

Is there anything else to do once you reach the center of the galaxy? I built up a smallish empire and i have more money than i know what to do with so i decided to fly through enemy territory to the center of the galaxy. I got my reward now is there anything else left?

Well my copy arrived yesterday, a day earlier than expected so bonus there. Played for about 3-4 hours. Trying not to rush through it, I'm ready to advance to the tribal stage but I decided to stick around, explore, discover more body parts, earn more money so I have enough money to make a badass looking dude.

First impressions are OK, I would say I've enjoyed it so far but I am a little disappointed, but its also early days. My observations are the same as most people's.... its quite simple lacking real depth and contains some obvious repetition, but its still been fun and that's the important thing. It does make me wonder how much replay value it will have though.

Will move onto tribal stage tonight and see how it pans out, I'm going to take my time though, I want to see what each stage has to offer and I don't want to miss out on anything.

I thought the Creature stage was great. I made friends with every species that would let me and found every body part available (cant get carnivore or omnivore mouth parts if youre a herbivore) and got my creature's stats to max in everything available. I spent ages in that stage.

That's what i'm trying to do - max every stat... no idea if its useful later in game or not tho :D

The ONLY useful thing that carries from the creature stage to the tribal stage is wings. Wings make the tribal stage about 2x easier as you can just fly over everything en-route to and from your village. Everything else is completely superfluous. After the tribal stage your creatures could just be a ball without eyes and legs and it wouldn't matter.

LOL - Well I guess it will be for cosmetics only then !

Tempted to uninstall

Getting bluescreens among other things

Just meh

At the point where it says "now design the final look of your creature..." Its a bit of a jump as you cannot after that change your creature in any way. Mine still looked prehistoric at space age =/ They needed more evolutionary steps with actual gameplay other than make friends annhilate the other species.
