OK, cut a long story short I got hit in the face this morning by a car door and it knocked my glasses off and gave me a black eye. My glasses are OK apart from a bit of scratching where they took the blow; They appear to be only minor surface scratches so does anyone know where/if I can get them polished out as they are slightly annoying.

Thanks

The problem is that by polishing the lenses you may well be changing the prescription of them. If you don't have a fancy script or any kind of coating on the lenses then it would be best to just replace them with some new ones.

See your optician. Whatever you do stay away from the "Lens Doctor" or other so-called lens repair kits. They leave a rainbow effect on the lens and have been known to ruin eyeglasses.

If they're not too bad, an optician should be able to sort them out. I had mine done a while ago, but they were only light scratches from general usage and I didn't have any special coating on. It didn't cost very much though.

Should have gone to specsavers?

Ill get my coat.

We'll I did actually get them from there so I might go and see what they say :)

They do have an scratch-resistant coating on anyway; but bear in mind I got hit by a car door.

It looks like superficial surface scratches so they may get them out. You should see my eye, the bottom-right third is blooded up (behind the outer membrane).

Don't be afraid to console in us about bullying, I'm sure we can help you.... :p

Seriously though, that sounds like it must have hurt. Glasses arent cheap nowadays too, opticians should be able to fix it up for you though.

Otherwise you could give Autoglass a call

If they are plastic lenses, use Brasso. Seriously this stuff is "da bomb" when it comes to polishing. I had to get some scratches out of an acrylic dome and this stuff bought it up super smooth.

Be carefull if you have any anti glare or other coatings, as brasso will probably dissolve it!

The problem is glasses will have coatings, the polish will no doubt take it off.
