The Police are Considerable and helpful! !Shocker!

I ran out of fuel once and the police took me to get fuel

I had that as well! One copper dropped me to the station and the WPC waited with my missus. When i got back it turns out the WPC had been asking if my missus was "a bit young" to be with me ...

EDIT: here are the NCB bits of the emails:
Emails Follow -

Hmmm, one reason I didn't make this a joint huge rant about Swift is the fact that our company decided to implement some really evil filters on email about 3 months ago. It is possible that their emails got pulled into that rather than delivered.

Seems strange that I got the one through 2 days ago saying I was a customer though... what is also annoying is that they apparently cancelled my policy some 10 weeks ago, but have not refunded me any of the money I paid them for the insurance either.

That said I won't be ranting about that - this was about good service, not bad. I am sure they have done a good job for other people they have just screwed me over.

No sensible police officer would ever do this. If he was then to drive off, uninsured, with a child in the car and then had a crash, that offier would be in trouble as he has approved you to drive on uninsured. The officer has a duty of care to that driver, the child and anyone else that may be involved in a crash that could occur.

the officer in that case hasnt approved anything, he never stopped the car in question.

Which is what i would say, and let him drive uninsured? well if someone dies who cares about insurance? and if its minor damage, most people fix it with their own money to keep cheap insurance.

A police officer has a duty to uphold the law. Any officer who doesn't shouldn't be in the job.

I was stopped by the police last week with my 18 month old son in the back of the car.

So if he crashes and dies when he shouldn't be driving, you really think the officer would not hear a thing after? He would need several pairs of new underwear, and probably a new job.

Nice work on the copper, they ain't all bad infact most I have meet have been great.

Bad luck on the insurance side of things hope you get it sorted.

if he crashes and dies what does it matter if there is any insurance to the driver and his 18 month old son. If anything, the guy will have to pay for damages if a minor accident. and everything works out, its still the guys choice if he drives, the officer just moves off and erases the incident.

Like mabye not giving someone speeding a ticket?

I'm not impressed at all. Once upon a time, not so long ago, the copper on hearing and believing the explanation would have told the driver to make sure he sorts it out asap and let him go on his way.

Having said that, as jobworth as the copper has been, giving the op all those lifts was a really nice touch.

If you got his shoulder number write to the chief constable and praise him, cos im in a similar line of work and you only get told when you do a bad job never a good one

However, I only know this to be true with the Metropolitan police, I have no idea how other constabularies work.

Despite this, he was a very good officer.

I'm pretty sure under uk law you have the right to be tried by your peers for any crime you commit. So with any police force you will be able to go to court.

So your saying he should have been left to drive his car uninsured? Seems pretty irresponsible to me.

Left to get his car home yes and then to sort it out before he drives it again. I would hope that any court in the land would force the insurance firm to take liability considering he has actually paid for his insurance. It is their incompetence and not his that is at fault.

I'm amazed, normally platinums roaming death squads would have just handed out summary execution for such a breach of the law...
