*** The Official Football Manager 2009 Thread ***

So am I right in thinking the information they have released isn't going to be the last?

Other football related news is Fifa 09 and PES 2009 will both have demos coming out on the same day, 11th September. Not sure whether that means PCs or not though

- More information throughout the coming months through blogs and podcasts.

- Demo due to be out a few weeks before the official release date - Nov 14th.

You arent winding me up are ye? :p

Nope, I am a regular forum visitor and its been discussed before. When they looked into the hardware being used they discovered they could potentially lose a lot of sales as their surveys etc were showing a significant number of buyers didn't have DVD drive.

Mostly in countries outside of the uk iirc

Definitely not. Loads of info to be released before game comes out.

Not a fan of the 3D engine to be honest, always think manager games look better without them. Can't wait to play it though.

Anyone else want to start waiting with me for the first patch ;)

:p

As long as some of the key aspects of the game aren't broke like they were last year :o

Like the "Create an established League 1 side in two years" with a League 2 side, you manage back to back promotions and get told because you're in the Championship that you've not created an established League 1 club!? Then the board would sack you because of this.

Thankfully that got fixed with the first patch but that seriously was annoying

I hate the summaries given by the chairman in FM08 and this aspect needs a major overhaul.

One of my favourites is when you are in the last week of the season, about to win promotion to the Premiership yet your chairman in his monthly round up is still disappointed about your defeat in the League Cup 3rd round to Man Utd.

Interested to see how the 3d match works but i am pleased you can change to 2d if you dont like it and prefer old school ;) .

Has it? Hadn't heard anything about it since I got into FM with FM05. Perhaps there were mentions that SI should do a 3D engine to match some other game with instant replies that SI shouldn't.

After doing a bit of research on the forums it seems that the 3D engine wont be graphics intensive which is a relief. It should be fine on my MacBook's integrated graphics. Although it has a 2.1Ghz C2D and 2Gb RAM to back it up which will help.

The inclusion of writing additional comments is class when talking to the local press, very good addition!

Some intresting pictures showing whats in store for the new version! Cant wait for it to be honest, i think 09 will be a turn in football manager sims! Just hope they get the transfer system worked out properly. Instead of rossi being bought for £48m basically every game i start!

Training days will be a very good inclusion i think, been able scout out the next Stevie.G and turning him into world player of the year will be class. Just hope they have this sorted aswell in that the quality of the academy matters! say if Arsenal did training days, the quality of players will be better than say York. Hope its not just random like it seems to be in 08.

then it's good for you that 3d can be turned off and you can play with 2d :)
I don't think SI are stupid enough to alienate their fanbase by releasing a 3D only version. :) For example this year looks to be the first time SI have released a game on DVD. :D They've been hanging back on CD-ROMs so as not to upset anyone with a PC without DVD drives. :)

And seeing as FM09 will be the 3D's first release there was never any chance of it being 3D only. Their 2D works well and everyone knows it.
