My fabulous ship
Ok I am starting my first *paid* freelance web design job and I can:

- Work from home
- Work when I want
- Have min hours of 10 and max of 30 a week
- Paid weekly

Can I just state. OMFGBBQ THIS IS SO NICE! from my contract job its so nice to think "shall I do work now or later?" or when the guys give you a ring and want you to go out etc etc etc - wow its so nice being able to plan your work around your life :D ofc I work my damndest but still having the option is really refreshing! :D

anyone else have these working conditions? and can you comment on how you feel down the road??

I get 25 work from home days a year, as well as holiday (22 excluding bank holidays) but they are really work from home, have to be contactable at all times, and actually get work done, handy if I need to stay at home for a delivery or something along those lines.

Yeah Im always on MSN, and my phone is never off (silent when at meetings/cinema etc)

I hate it when people dont have their phone on or battery dies for a bad excuse. My parents are aweful for it.

But yeah - I gave them a time frame one when will usually be in "work mode" :) but said Im more than happy to get up at 2/3am to sort a bug etc :) usually still up then anyway lol

I don't think id hack it working at home. I cant even do uni work at home, i need to be in the library to do it, or i get very distracted.

Plus i'd rather be out there in the working environment.

Would never rule out working from home though

well the beauty of working from home is - its just optional, you can stil go to the office if you feel you need to - but its less expense for me ;)

Im quite happy working from home :) I just clock myself in and out with some software I made :p records the progs I used, time used, length of time used and files saved. :p

I used to be a web programmer, I was motivated at first but it soon died off. I made good money though, £10 a hour. Money isnt a good motivator though and you can feel lonely being at home on your own. Now I just do it as a hobby and I would do it as a proper job.

There's a big push in our company to make people work from home - save on office costs etc. I did it for one day and I was so bored, I think I'd literally go mad if I had to do it every day. I miss the daily interaction/banter with my co-workers, despite them being complete PITA's most of the time :p
