Am I too old for games

I'm 30 and not retiring for gaming any time soon. My Dad is 57 and starting to get into FPS games - he recently completed Call of Duty and is now making his way through Medal of Honor AA. The family is planning to buy him a proper gaming rig for his b'day at the end of Oct.

41 and enjoying them more and more. To be honest I keep quiet about it to most of my friends because not one of them is a gamer and they think it's weird. Their idea of gaming is an after dinner group Wii session which is my idea of hell.

I'm 34 and play video games more than ever - not just PC but wii and DS as well. Of course there's no such thing as "too old". In fact, people under 40 have probably had a computer/console at home since they were a kid, so it's just a natural part of their life. I know it is for me.

Some (ignorant) people say it's weird for people over a certain age to be playing video/PC games... but who are they to say that?

This is the first time in history that people are growing-up after having had the opportunity to play video games their entire lives. Video gaming is just another form of entertainment, like books and TV.

Got my dad into wow at 45 ish, struggled to grasp it at first but managed to get to 60 easily enough. However no work on the house got done in that time which lead to a divorce. oooops!

Im 30 and I still love gaming although with a wife and baby I dont play nearly as much as I use to!

Your never to old to game, my old man bought a PS2 this year and now spends all night on FPS's and hes 56!

Oh and in addition, I currently live in Aus and they have these adverts out here for BCF (Boating Camping & Fishing) stores which are always some kid sat in his room playing on the PC and it will go:

"Gary spent all weekend killing dragons with a mouse"
"THAT AINT LIVING GARY"

Then will show loads of shots of people outside fishing etc......

Now when I sneak a go on the PC I hear the wife going "THAT AINT LIVING......."

Edit..balls...my sig is gone again!

Why should age ever be a factor ??? - 35 & play CSS, UT2004 , BF 2142 here ....... , have been playing pc games since the early days & cant see me ever stopping :)

Age 48 here , just playing through a modded version of Stalker for the 3rd time, got to bed at 1.00 am last night . Loving the whole P.C. Games/ simulation thing .Mind you I do other stuff as well , so keep balanced and have fun....:D

In thirty years time the main selling point of an old folks home will be whether or not it has decent internet access ;)

Apparently the Wii has become very popular in retirement homes. I watched one news report that showed the old folk playing that bundled tennis game and they were having a ball.

What a silly question. Its like asking at what age one is too old to read works of fiction, listen to radio dramas, watch soaps on TV or enjoy films at the cinema.

OP, any criticism you receive says a lot about the narrow minded ignorance of the people making the comments.

I was playing (and necessarily writing) VERY basic, or should I say BASIC computer games back in 1972. You can figure out what age I am from that maybe.

Sim games such as Flight Sim and MSTS also allow you to indulge the "armchair traveller", taking you to places that you would never contemplate visiting in real life! Ideal too as you're getting older and can't face the hassle of all those airport queues, lost luggage, motels with creaky plumbing/guests in the next room who insist on keeping the TV up loud to 2am etc.

43 next and was brought up playing computer games and still do and as long as PC's still exist I'll be playing well into my retirement :)

Deks

Happy birthday.

The more older people the better imo, they're easier to beat!

But seriously, it's just a hobby like anything else.
