What words make you cringe?

Or if you mean annoying words, then people misusing 'literally'.
That. And the misuse of the word "myself", as in, "If you have any questions, please ask your teamleader or myself." Drives me batty.

Interviews with athletes on the radio always result in "you know" being said about eight times in one sentence.

My nephew: "Uncle Howie, watch this!" 100 times a day.

And my neighbour likes to "unthaw" the chicken before cooking. :p

edit: "Oh, snap!", a new phrase in the modern vocabulary. What the heck does that mean?

When people use the term 'download' incorrectly. For example, when my sister rips a CD, she refers to it as 'downloading a cd to the computer'. Ugh

Fantastic

as in "ooh that burger was fantastic" (no it was NOT fantastic you stupid idiot, it might have been tasty, it might have hit the spot but it was NOT fantastic)

"We went for a walk along the beach and it was fantastic" (no you boob, it may have been a pleasant stroll, you may have enjoyed the fresh air but it was only a walk. It was NOT fantastic)

etc etc

Whats wrong with Fantastic? Surely they are saying it was 'good' / 'enjoyable'...?

It's not a single word but rather a phrase “da (or ja) get what I mean”. I swear people are using it more and more to end sentences even when it’s not a question.

Its a shortening of 'do you' - d'ya / d'you. Generally it seems most of what annoys people is not what people say but how it is said. A lot of people here need to just realise that most of it is just regional accents etc.

"there you go"

I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE YOU PLEB, LEARN HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH CORRECTLY.
