i sorta bought a Sata 2.5 for my laptop when i really needed a IDE 2.5

is there a adapter i can by or is it a case of tough poo !!!

Tough poo I am afraid. You can get an adapter but it wont fit inside your laptop. You can either; buy an external enclosure and use it as a portable hard drive for your laptop/PC or attempt to return it and hope you dont need to pay a restock fee (did you open the packaging??).

Yeah i fink the external hd case is a good idea cheers mate.

It is really a friend who bought it and yeah he opened it so not really a chance of returning it.
