Best Steering Wheel For GT5?

Their has to be at least 6 regulars on AV Forums that play GT5 with a G25 and Playseat.

Definately recommend to anyone to buy the G25 over the new GT wheel.

Build Quality
Better Pedals and Paddle shifters
Gearstick
The ONLY logitec wheel with Dual motors for FFB

May seem like a silly question but the wheels people are talking about do they have and use force feed back ? would love the G25 in F1 on the PS3.

Yes they all use force feedback.
Like MR Latte has posted only the G25 wheel has two motors for this.
Its not worth buying a cheap wheel that does not have it.
F1 on the ps3 is pretty good with a G25 you can even feel the engine vibration when you rev your car up on the starting grid.

I think that has sold the G25 to me thx for the relpy.

edit: just been looking at the G25 and it seem's you get a lot of wheel for your money.

I play GT5 with my G25 and it works very well - though I need to work out how the buttons translate since it doesnt have a G25 config inbuilt - any help?

Also forget the playseat and go for a ghetto workmate like I did :p. I could probably justify the cost of the seat but I dont have the room for using it and more importantly storing it. With the workmate though I can pretty much leave the G25 in situ and fold it so it slides under my bed...

Even when its not being powered?
Yep thats all the load resistance - effectively replicating trying to steer when a car isnt moving :p

ps3ud0

But there is no resistance when it isnt plugged in, and it is so noisy that even turning it a slow as i can, people can hear it downstairs. Is that normal? I really expected a little more for £160 :( And christ, what's up with that gear stick  not that i'll be using it but the quality of it is shocking. Pedals are very nice though!

You got a link to this 'ghetto workmate' coz googling that gives me some strange results like 'what not to say to a work mate' and 'YouTube - ghetto hotdog' ?
:/

Sorry I actually meant a Black & Decker Workmate - I ended up getting the WM301 and took of one of the leg struts so I could get my legs in - its not as comfortable a driving position as the play seat but it works - mine only cost me £10. Quite a few people have done this and it works pretty well - as Ive got a glass desk there was no way I could attach the G25 otherwise for fear of cracking it...

If you don't want to be ghetto and you don't have much space you might want to consider the wheel stand pro. :) A lot more expensive, but designed for the task at least. I got mine today - only took 3 days from ordering it from Poland to arriving here. Not got to try it yet but I attached my DFP in the ten mins I was home. Seems pretty steady from my brrm brrming.

Will try and remember to post more thoughts later

I'd be interested with a wheel which doesnt make a grinding noise when you turn it with the power cable disconnected :(

Anyone seen one that can fold away? Id be after something like that...

http://wheelstandpro.com/index.html

been playing with it for about 2 and a half hours on GTR Evo (with DFP) and it's so much better than the ironing board - since it doesn't slide around everywhere and I can adjust the height low enough. I'm still not getting much better lap times but I'm much more comfortable doing it and much more consistent. ;)

Very steady stand overall considering what it is. Nothing slid away and very little movement / wobbling.

You will probably have to move the pedals to the right a bit to use it with the clutch, but pretty sure that's not a problem since they are specially made for the gt5.

Gotta say when I first took it out the box I had to stand there for 3 minutes trying to work out what I was supposed to do. Positioning the part the wheel clamps on to was quite difficult for one person but you only have to do it once, and it only took me a couple of minutes to work out that you have to use both tools at once to tighten it up. Easier when it's folded back than standing up.

Can you measure the dimensions of it folded up with the G25 in situ? Want to see if it would fit under the bed and not poke out - have to unattache the steering wheel atm - not a massive hassle...

Ive seen the WSP before - but thought it was quite expensive for effectively a few peices of steel tubing :p

ps3ud0

don't have a G25 I'm afraid.. ;). Must be someone somewhere who's measured it before though. Or you could email him since I think the stand is just made by one guy.

This wheel is belt driven and is not as noisy as the G25.
I have tried both wheels and although the fanatec wheel is not as noisy i prefer the G25.

This wheel is made by a company called Fanatec.
The original reproduction of a 911 leather steering wheel gives you the genuine Porsche feeling
Wireless USB technology which provides latency free signal transmission to the PC/Console and is very robust against interference (Power supply to wheel still needed)
3 Force Feedback motors and smooth belt drive deliver sensational realism
Authentic wireless pedals with clutch and soft-stop brake
Two gear sticks included: 6+1 Speed H-pattern and sequential
Compatible with PC and Playstation 3 (6+1 gear stick is only supported on PC and Playstation 3)
