Good good when is the game actually out?

And someone please tell me this has nothing to do with steam we it being valve

I can pretty much guarantee you that you will need to use steam to play the game. I don't know why some peopel dislike steam though i've never had any issues with it...

I hope we see the demo very soon, the game has been hyped up so much this year i just hope the wait is worth it :)
 
Steam has come a long way from the early release. Have to admit I had so much hate for steam during the early days but have to hold my hands up and say they have an excellant product.

I share exactly the same sentiments.
Coming over from the old WON system while playing CS to the mess that was Steam was horrendous, but, they've really improved the system and, I must say, I prefer it now.
 
Steam was terrible when it first came out, but as people have said it's come along way.

Now, for me, it just works, so I've grown quite attached to it. Easy to buy games, easy to update and back them up, and easy to chat to mates while playing.

I hope Valve do what they did with tf2 again; preorder the game on steam and you can play in the "beta"/demo, as the sonner I get to play L4D the better :D
 
I do think steam has come along way but i for one didn't actually mind it when i first started using it. probably because i was attached to a blueyonder content server and being on blueyonder internet basically had next to no ping in any game.
I can't say i ever had the friends network actually work though.
Anyway can't wait for L4D been waiting sooooo long now for it!!
 
steam has improved 100 fold over the last 4 years. It is truely a great system. No bullpoo about DRM, no lmitations on installs. Steam friends is great, the broswer is great. I have all my games on CD and digitally, so even if i wear the cd out, I still can download off steam!

All hail steam!

It's a valve game, there will be demos, free weekends, gift parcels with little bows made out of awesome. I'm certain everyone will get enough 'free' playtime on this to be able to make an informed decision on whether they want to buy it.
 
Cant wait for this game! and I love steam.

Tell you what I would kill for, a way to tie MSN and Skype into steam, so I can just do the shift+tab to invite people to skype calls, or MSN people instead of having to alt tab.... honestly I think I would cry if that existed.

Best thing about Steam - adding shortcuts to non Steam games. Now I can Shift-Tab in any game on my computer and talk to people
 
I was not expecting this. My day has been made.

Practically everyone loves Steam now, people still feel the need to justify it after the early stages.

Ditto. People take notice of this, it hasn't become common practice yet for some reason.
 
release date is sometime in november, the 18th i think. definitely my most anticipated game of the year can't wait for it
 
love steam, but it seriously needs to sort the friends thing out, its up and down like a damn HoHo

Hopefully they might demo L4D at i35, giving out copies of the game to me etc :P
 
So i wont be able to play this game online without having steam? Guess i wont be purchasing it then.

Cannot stand Steam at all, i have no clue why either :/
