Hi, I thinking of ordering one of these, cant make my mind up.

Leadtek GeForce GTX 280 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Gainward GeForce GTX 280 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

I check out the website seeing what come with what, notice that Leadtek one come with a power cord
and the Gainward one doesent, My guess they should come with all of them, unless im wrong.

Would my Hiper type r 580w would able to power the card?
My setup in my sig and what not included there is 2 dvd drive.

Thanks
sho

I wouldn't put a hiper psu anywhere near anything worth over 50p.

Hipers go bang.

While, to be fair it was only particular types that went bang :p I probably wouldn't be to trusting of them either.

The same as if Q-Tec suddenly released a new brand of "good" psu's... I would probably still take my corsairs :p

Get the Leadtek card

I bought the Gainward and only later did I realise this:
http://www.gainward.de/support/support_uk_warrranty.htm

Kinda worrying seeing some of the listed faults could be genuine :-(

At the end of the day if the board stops working they have to replace it. I usually take images of stuff before I send it back.

But seeing as some of the stuff on there looks like tampering

Also I have had a Hiper type R been fine for ages and only recently replaced it with a 630W

Newer higher power Hipers are actually quite good, I'd happily own one.
The 580w ones are probably not to be trusted anymore, especially with a 280GTX!

Thxs for the info guys, im thinking of replacing my hiper,
will this do the job
Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU

Im gona order the leadtek one after seeing those images kind of freaking me out

Leadteks warrenty is the same just not so graphic

http://www.leadtek.com/eng/warranty/warranty.asp

Products that have been damaged by accident, disaster, negligence, electrical surges, misuse, improper maintenance, abuse, or as a result of service or modification other than that done by Leadtek Research Inc

A lot of the pictures on there are a bit obvious abuse. Any power surges would take out more than the graphics care anyway

EVGA are the best company if you're going to tinker in any way. Obviously nothing to drastic but removing and using third party cooling is well within EVGA's terms.

To be fair none of those are their fault, its not defective workmanship, its not really their problem if your PSU took out your card.

I have a few years experience in fault finding to component level on PCB's
How they can differnentiate betweeen a card taking out a PSU or a PSU taking out a card is beyond me.

Looks more like a cop out to me
