GTX280, or wait for GTX280+ ?

Hiya,

Im just wondering, is it worth going for a GTX280? Or waiting for the GTX280+

Is it likely the 280+ will be quieter? Or come with a different fan?

If I don't plan on overclocking the graphics card, is it even worth waiting for a GTX280+ ?

Im well aware of the whole 'there is always newer technology around the corner' but if the GTX280+ is out soon, it might be worth just waiting>?

wait for 280+ if it will be bad get 4870x2 should be even cheaper later on

Nvidia won't be releasing any new cards till the end of this year/start of next year so no point waiting.

well, seeing as the gt200 has been out for a few months, if you wait, then you can get the new cards which will last longest when bought at launch but cost a fortune, or you can buy now.

Best bet is to get the EVGA card and if you really need to get the 280+ use the 90 day step up program

yea, so having the gtx 280 for 3 to 4 months before it gets knocked off is pretty good then...

That's what I think..
wanted to wait for shrinked version, but lloks like even if it comes out it will cost more, so buying GTX280 now is better choice and then when new comes out you will have more saved money if you want to upgrade, or just buy even cheaper then second GTX280 for sli

Thats ELSA's product map, not necessarily Nvidias and could have course change. I have heard the 280+ is coming October/November.

I have just bought a leadtek GTX 280 and with the latest leaked Nvidia drivers I have found the fan auto control to be very good. I usually run the graphics card under water because of the noise but I'm tempted to leave this under air. In comparsion to the 4870 it's much quieter and even quieter than the 9800 GTX.

The price of the GTX is really good now and if you can pickone up one for around £240 your getting a bargain. It's a very worthy upgrade from the 4870.

Looks like GT212 maybe a 45nm version, sth different.
GTX280+ supposed to be a 55nm, right? so is there a chance that they pop up with new 55nm ? OR should I just forget about it and buy recent one?

While the 4870 is good it does seem to suffer from stuttering now and again.

Only receieved the GTX this morning but just running up Space Siege and Hellgate London and you can notice a difference. Space Siege suffered from pauses/stuttering when panning the camera around. The GTX suffered no stuttering. Hellgate was the difference between chalk and cheese. Best experience yet with any card. Totally smooth even with maximum in game AA. Again the 4870 wasn't toally smooth but then neither was the 8800 GTX or 9800 GTX which are the best from the previous generation.

Don't get me wrong the 4870 is a great card for the money.

I am a proud GTX 280 owner but some of my friends have the ATI equivalent and I must admit I have never seen any "stuttering" on their rigs.....

Is it common?
