Love it, classic metallica sound. i just hope that it really is just poor encoding but i dont think they're being honest. Maybe the black album just set the bar too high production-wise, but there's very little that matches that album in any genre let alone metal.

still love it but another thing....the drumming is...awkward at times. i dont know how else to explain it - im not a drummer lol. but it doesnt sound quite right.

its not so much awkward hes just throwing rhythms everywhere, some of it sounds very robot like.
 
quality of the album too is absolute dog ****. who ever mastered it as said, needs shooting, ruins the complete album.
 
I just wonder why they signed off on the album with the mastering like it is? They were obviously happy with it as in the end it's their decision, just seems odd :(

its probably, a cool sound to them, unless there monitoring is ****** its crap. they have some decent songs, ruined by sound quality. it shouldnt even be sold in the quality its in, as a band i would feel ashamed tbh!

Its good but when im listening to it back on high quality audio gear and i can hear the sound quality i turn it off.

be honest, ive heard far worse than death magnetic from a LOT of other bands. it isnt that bad, its quiet listenable. but its not a patch on the black album.

in my opinion its not listenable, i like clean sharp cutting sound, everything sounds perfect.... im very picky... being on a music tech degree and all!

which is highly amusing considering the music you listen to, neoni. tech degree or not, most of the stuff you listen to is far worse lol:p dog **** is really going too far. but i know you have a hatred for Lars anyway ;)

unfortunately, poor production and metal and its varients pretty much go hand in hand. there are few bands i can think of that have been consistantly good on the production side. I cant think of any right now, in fact lol.

Well that's what music is all about isn't it:rolleyes:

One of my favourite recording artists of all time is Robert Johnhson who recorded most, if not all of his stuff in about 1937 on god knows what, he is widely regarded as the most infuential and important blues musicians ever to have lived, without him there would arguably be no rock music as we know it, his recordings are poor quality to say the least but I guess that's because he didn't have a degree in music tech.

He is a tool, and loads of people know he is... i dont like his heavy handed style...simple as.

omg, just heard The Day That Never Ends, the ending especially sounds awful, :eek: It seems as soon as a lot goes on in a song its gets all mushy.

I bought an album recentlyish by a band called 'Knights Of The Abyss' that CD sounds 90times better than this, and they are pretty much unknown.

nobody's arguing, its a discussion. im just interested especially with neoni's well known distain for Lars anway. The quality of the album is poor but as i mentioned, its no poorer than probably 90% of the rest of the stuff out there in the same genre.

Muse and Rage are interesting ones (not going to mention alphabeat:p) because msot of their stuff is pretty average. Muse's Absolution, for example, is heavily limited. Although they didnt push anything in to distortion, a wall of sound is never enjoyable for very long. well, not unless your a thrash metal fan. I love Rage but i would say most of their stuff is average as well.

Still they are both a long way off being as consistantly awful as RHCP :p

Thats thing though, I think it is, but its not gonna make me stop listening to it.
