1988 KAWASAKI GPZ EX500 A2

i have grown up on a Kawasaki so do want to ride a K.

Will look into ZZR400's and maybe an ER-5 or two.

If anybody happens across any near bristol please give me a shout.

I know it is...but for some reason, I still love it :confused:

Its like people going out with fat/ugly people who say they find them attractive I guess! :)

Wasn't F366LNE by any chance?
If it was it was originally white and I think it had than 34K on it before I sold it.
 
Phew! The FZR's especially the jap imports were superb handling bikes and they were fun all the way to the red line which was something stupid like 14k. I'd regard the mileage as suspect though unless it has a lot of history. The normal thing to do was to get a spare set of clocks if you were taking it out for track usage or replace them after you'd crashed it for the umpteenth time. Please remember that it will benefit from regular oil changes!


If i'd spotted the thread i'd have said GPZ's were evil and not in a good way. To list the faults on the last 'good' example I had the 'pleasure' of doing some work on with it's owner.

Rear tyre was tiny, choice was limited and it was not good to ride in the wet at all. Shock was ... well if i'm honest it broke in dramatic fashion. Handlebars well they are clip on's and one snapped. Fully. At speed. The engine wasn't great if i'm honest, lots of vibration, not a lot of oomph compared to a modern V Twin or an inline four and the CB500 is a much more refined parallel twin. The starter motor's are known to be about as durable as Steven Hawkins, perhaps that's a little unfair, he's lasted significantly longer than they do but i'm not sure what he'd be like at starting an engine.

Well it would have started Sept 29th so he would have still had the old test, but the instructors are still looking for new style test faults, even though its the old test.

Naughty but they are government pencil pushers
 
The reason he will be happy is because hes sure hes gonna fail, not the way to be going into a test, but he was nervous for his CBT, so you can imagine what hes gonna be like going into his test. Stupid thing is, hes actually a decent rider.
 
Just tell him to watch his mirrors and distance from cars in queues.

Cant believe i failed for a silly mistake - 3 years riding experiance and i still make the odd mistake, sods law said it was during my test!
