I’m sending my Abit IX48-GT3 back as it doesn’t support the card and I need a new board that WILL work with the 4870x2 and DDR3 ram…
Has anyone got a similar setup? I'll be happy with something that just works :D

I have:

Intel Q9550
Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2048MB
OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz (2x2GB) Ram
Akasa AK-P085FG-BK 850W PSU
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB SATA-II 32MB
Pioneer DVR-215DBK 20x DVD RW
Zalman CNPS9700-NT nVidia Tritium CPU Cooler
Vista Home Premium 64bit
Antec 900 case

Thanks…

Why on earth would you spend £250 on a DDR3 mobo when nehalem is out in 2 months and is going to need a new mobo cos of the socket ?

Because a nahelem upgrade will cost more than 250, and a top of the line Ddr3 mobo will be more than adequate untill nahalem prices are reasonable?

It's not like all x48 systems will not be able to run all current software at light speed as soon as nahalem comes out, you'll probably just end up loosing a little in resale value.

Thanks guys, moving up to that Rampage is another £100 that I don't want to spend TBH, I suppose my plan is to stay with a single card for a while and then maybe add another. I don't intend to upgrade again for a while though, I just want something that works with the 4870x2 card, which my Abit IX48-GT3 doesn't at all (no signal out) I'm even thinking of Asus P5E3 Deluxe Intel X38 which 3dGameMan used to review the GFX card, so at least I know that works :) and is about the same price as what I'm sending back.
