Well I think I'll be ordering the X2 this week but have the drivers improved?

I could just get the 280...but the X2 gives too much performance to just ignore.

4870x2 should be good with 8.9 drivers, but will you use 2 monitors?

if you're running vista 64, apparently a few cards have problems with dual display on that os, but as you said, they won't both be plugged in at once

On TF2 playing something like 2fort i never drop below 80fps on the bridge with max spam. 1900x1200 res with everything on, 3.8ghz q6600.

Very happy with my 4870x2. It's my first ATI card as I couldn't ignore the raw power either. Only played Stalker Clear Sky with it at the moment but I have a huge improvement over my 8800GTX. I can now max everything out in 1920 res and fps ranges from about 60 to 90+.

I would say that most games will still be CPU bottlenecked at 1920x1200 8xAA 16xASF on a single 4870X2.
I could see it needing 4Ghz + Quad to push the fps to the max.

Well im at 3.8ghz on a quad and i would say its maxed on TF2 when the spam starts.

No problems here with a 4870X2 and Vista 64.

I only play cod4, at 1920 x 1200 with my custom settings I can get well over 200fps easy.

Just never open your case and try to touch it, it will burn your hand as its hotter than hell lol

The slow down could be down to the cpu even at 3.8GHz

I get 150+ FPS in 2560x1600 with Ultra High settings (mat_picmip -1)
