2008 Italian GP - Race 14/18

LH: Well, that's his driving, that's all. That is how he drives. If you don't have the balls to brake late then that is your problem! At the end of the day, in those situations it is the driver who can feel the grip more and put the car more on the edge. And I know I am great in those conditions. I felt the grip more than him, I knew where to place my car and I did place it in different positions to him and I found the grip.

oh dear lewis lol

oh dear lewis lol

He set the second fastest time in session 1 but messed up session 2. It was a strategic error that cost him, not a driving one. He could have set a faster time in session 2 but missed the prime window after which no one improved their time significantly.

Looking forward to tomorrow,it should be fun. Abit of rain will liven it up more :)

He was 2 seconds a lap slower than other cars at the same time. Sounds like not having the balls to me ;)

Truth. Massa set his lap to get him into the top 10 on the same lap as Hamilton was struggling.

I think once again Massa has been underestimated in the wet. Ill ask you...

From the top 3 guys (i.e. LH, KR and FM) who spun their cars during quals?

LH and KR. Massa only went off track but didnt actually do a full 360 like LH and KR.

(The same is true for Spa as well).

Need I mention Silverstone for Massa? :p

Well done to Vettel :)

Wet or dry I think tomorrow will be interesting.

btw thanks Mad_Jay for spoiling the GP2 results! :/

Need I mention that Hamilton has been off/crashed in 3 wet races as opposed to 1 wet race of Massas? :)

Yeh, but 5 times in one race..

Lets face it the title of "rain master" is a fickle one, is it not? From race to race you will have drivers who feel more attuned/hooked up to the track in the wet. I just think that Hamilton's strategic mistake of which he would have had some say in, not only cost him the window of opportunity as it did Kimi, but also cost him some confidence. He got less laps on the proper tyres and the weather just didnt want to improve. If KR and Massa were streets ahead I would say it was poor driving, but the quality of the drivers from past performance and their relative positions in Q2 are evidence enough. Still, it makes for an interesting grid with Massa in a prime position it seems, but if its wet we all know anything can, and probably will, happen.

Hats off to Massa though, really didnt think he could hook it up in the wet, and he was obviously only just squeezed into the top 10 but going by his Silverstone performance I wouldnt have put him in the top 20.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....that wasn't exactly in the script, was it?

I only saw Q3 (it was a toss-up between watching the whole of qually and going to the pub, and the pub won out), so maybe I missed the crucial moment that would have explained just why McLaren and Hamilton thought inters were a great idea - was it the right call and Hamilton was unlucky, or was it just boneheaded?

No matter - it's done now. Hope he doesn't get over-optimistic going into T1 tomorrow and end his race early. With Alonso ahead of him on the track....the pair are more than capable of getting into a spat over the same piece of real estate.

Kimi may only be 1 position ahead of lewis, but wasnt he like 1.4seconds ahead? iirc hamilton was last by a considerable margin. And Massa did set the 10th fastest time at the same time Hamilton was out there trying to get a lap in. So you'd have to conclude Hamilton is no rain master either, that title has to go to Vettel, he has consistantly shown he can be up there at the top when track conditions are difficult and the speed of the car matters less. Doesn't he have 3 quickest quali sessions in the last 3 races?

Assuming he gets past KR :D

I can see it now... Alonso will let KR through but will make LH life hell :D

CANNOT wait for tomorrow.

Just something to think about here folks...

IF and I emphasise IF, Massa were to win tomorrow and Hamilton were to get say... P6? that would be a difference of what.. 7 points? Which basically wouldve brought Massa into contention had it not been for the penalty at Spa.

Thats a big IF :)
