o.O what have i done lol... Plasma ordered at last!

Well,

After the advice given to me by all on loads of forums, i got to a shop, pictures and music type place and went for the TH42PZ80 or 85b depending which i liked the best...

Came out with something else lol...

After explaining to the shop guy its for my mum and dad, who watch normal tv, bit of HD and wil plug a laptop in to watch movies he recomended not the two i had gone to see, but the

TH42PX80 as from what he was saying, unless you have a blueray player, there is not much point getting the PZ over the PX...

So i saved £100, got a 5 year warranty, still have to wait 2-3 weeks for it though but happy ive picked one...

Just hope its good enough for my parents and hope i shouldnt have bought the PZ one instead...

PS - is it true i need scart cables with gold ends on as they have more pins wired in than silver ones?

**2-3weeks? Crikey that's a long wait. **

I know, but for the price and the 5 year warranty, its the best i have found, only ******* beat it for time, but at £299 more, i think i will wait a week or two.

Looked good in the shop, so i think its a good buy.

Only £40

Would be easy for me, but i wont be home when it turns up and cant see my mum and dad moving it around. They only just got the hang of remotes never mind scarts and wires, god only knows what they would have wired up...

They also unpack and give them a quick run through the features too, so should be nice for them. They dont move the old TV though, so going to get next door to help them move it on the day they turn up.

So far im happy, looked good in the shop and was less than i was expecting.

I take it you went back to ********* and told them what price you had got the px80 for as they do 'price promise'. Which means they will match the price plus give you an extra 10% off.

Nope, the service i got from ******was below bad... i dont want them to suply me with a TV as i dont think the customer servicies, if i should need them, would be upto much. rather pay the little extra and have peace of mind for my parents.

And i didnt think of it lol...

Tis a very nice TV mate, got mine bout 8month back, Paid £704 inc del and 5yr warranty.
Unfortunately its not an official Panny warranty its thru J********8*.

Remember to whack yer brightness and contrast down a tad for the first few hundred hours and also stretch the pic where anything has a logo/static image/black bars that should ensure the pixels wear in evenly, I did this to mine and tbh never had to turn the contrast and brightness back up lol

Anyway enjoy, and if youve got a 360 grab a cheapy HD drive and a loada cheap discs :P

Think ill plug the laptop in and run the films from that :) looks good, just been reading up on it and it says the res is 1080x768 and not the 1920x1020 of the PZ, but to be honest in the shop, i couldnt tell from the picture that was on so i guess the 1920x1020 res is for the blueray type player discs and not the SD/HD pictures anyway.

Is it true about the scart leads? if they are silver they only have 8 pins wired and i need gold ones which have all the pins wired for better picture?

Put simply, no. I've even bought one for less than £1 and that is fully wired.

well the pz was 799 and the px 699. the px seemed to do everything i want for my parents and looked like a good picture. They dont have a blueray player, only V+ and dvd's so the higher res of the PZ would be wasted, so i was told.

I can live with the price for now, took me long enough to pick one lol.

Just not sure about scart leads with gold and silver, still, here atwork we have some guys from 1st connect who do VC stuff, im sure they can help me with leads :)

TY all for your advice, much apreciated. If your in leeds and in the wardrobe, ill buy you a coffee :)

india meals place lol :)

by all accounts the PX handles SD better than the PZ due to the lower resolution so assuming you're parents never step upto full HD they're not missing much .....the PZ also does judder free 24hz but they probably won't notice anyway.

but if you're waiting for delivery for 2-3 weeks i'd jump all over the better price for sure.

just rang the shop im buying it from, i forgot to mention the fact, and they reminded me that the reason they are a little more expensive is the fact they give a 5 year warranty, when i add that to the price of the cheaper places, music and eyeballs are cheaper by about £150 all told...

Im happy with it for now. Felt right when i ordered it :)
