The thing is United were very dominant in England but they weren't that dominant in Europe (with the exception of the Champs League in 1999). Not saying he was a bad player, just not that great.
I could name 5 players better than him around that time, of course, that's my opinion, I am Spanish and we see football a bit different...
Even United should remember Fernando Redondo, when he literally ate Roy Keane in 2000 when Real Madrid played against United.
