4870x2 would be my choice if I had that kinda budget.

well, no seek times,no moving parts but write times are much slower than conventional hardrives, + the price per gigabyte is awful, get a velociraptor insteadWhy not worth it? they are really really fast!!?
Why would you choose 2x 512MB 4870's over a single 2GB 4870 X2?![]()
becuase 2 x 4870 in crossfire is probably faster than a single 4870x2.
pls dont eat me if im wrong cos i havnt looked at the benchies yet.
1 thinks for sure it would look better![]()
nForce 790i with GTX 280 SLI
>_>
lol, you could get a 790i, 4gb ram, a q9550, 2 gtx 280s and watercool the lot!*Runs away*
Seriously though, with 2000 pounds you may as well go the whole way.

Considering how much NV's latest motherboards suck in comparison to an Intel X48 that's probably not the best idea.![]()
I was under the impression that the 790i was really rather good![]()

So scrap the SSD and go for X48 and 2 x 4870x2's then OR 790i and 2 x GTX280's?
More expensive, same speed or slower in 99% of things, less efficient.
