2008 Italian GP - Race 14/18

Sunday weather update - it will rain, but when?

Welcome to race day for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, round 14 of the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship.

There seems little question that there will be rain at some stage today, and the region is already wet after overnight showers. As the ambient temperature high is forecast to be 25 degrees Celsius, the questions are when it rains and how heavily.

The race will run over 53 laps of the 5.793 kilometre (3.6 mile) circuit, or 306.720 kilometres (190.596 miles). It starts at 1400 hours local time, which is two hours ahead of GMT.

G'mornin everyone, I am praying the sky man coming to install my sky plus today arrives and is gone before the race starts, otherwise I am relegated to the teeny tv in the kitchen and a very uncomfy sofa!

Oh and ive done my rain dance as well.
:)

rerun of qualy on ITV4 now for those who missed it.

GP2 this morning was drizzling at the start but stopped.
It didn't look as bad as yesterdays highlights.

****INGGGGGGGGGGGGG HELLLL!!!!!!!! Wish it would just hurry up and come on!!! Bored out me head just keep looking at time every 20 min and notice only 1 min as gone since last time i looked

Back from gran canaria. finally !!!!!!!1 stupid futura :/

Erm wtf with hamilton last weekend, just WTF WTF WTF, ferrari rimming the FIA. And what is the weather like in monza for the race today ?

Well there was people who did it [straightline the chicane] 4 or 5 times in the GP2 without penalty...

Which clearly means there will be drive throughs for the first F1 guy to do it, going on the current FIA consistency records.

...unless its a Ferrari.

And I'm deadly serious.

gp2 is not f1
or does rally rules apply to f1 now too since thats fia as well?

Speaking about his approach to the race, Alonso said: "It will be difficult because we believe that we are quite slow in dry conditions. Also we should have a good amount of fuel in the car, so maybe our pace will not be too quick and we will have to defend our position.

"But I am ready to do it. I will defend my position to the maximum, because I am eighth so I am in the points from the starting point of the race. I know there are three contenders for the championship behind me, and if they want to overtake they will have to take risks."

lol poor hamilton

Oh, do be quiet....

The FIA have actually clarified the rule now (better late than not at all) - if you retain or gain a position by going off the road, you have to give back the position and wait until after the next corner before trying again.

Still say the penalty Hamilton got was wrong, but if anyone does the same now then there actually is a rule covering it.

Give out an unfair and unclear penalty, and then make a rule up to make it legal.... yeah, sounds perfectly acceptable to me

Actually, remebering something that was said on 5 Live the other day. If you straight line the 1st chicane, the next corner is the Curve Grande, which isnt really a corner, as its just a flat out slight bend, and then the next proper corner is the next chicane. So are you allowed to straight line the first chicane, get right on the tail of your oponent in what isnt really a corner, and then overtake into the second chicane?

F1 and GP2 are run to the same regulations on the same track with (i think) the same Stewards.

I didn't say it was right, just that it's happened.

No idea. I'm sure the FIA deliberately left it as vague as they did just so there would still be enough wiggle room to make themselves look like incompetent buffoons rather than a well respected governing body :)

Anyone else doing the same as me and avoiding the build up. I cant bring myself to watch the inevitable "OMG OMG OMG HAMILTON 15TH OMG WTF OMG 15TH OMG OMG HAMILTON IS GOD WHATS HE GOING TO DO OMG 15TH FOR SURE" that it will be.
