I'm a bit of a latecomer to this series but having recently watched the entire series in two days i'd say it's right up their in my best top 3 comedies ever.

David Duchovny is a genuine surprise as Hank, a failing writer with a don't give a damn attitude, a grudge against just about everything and someone who says exactly whats on his mind.

The writing in this series is surperb, it's sharp, quick fire, has a wonderful poke at everything that is wrong with america, especially LA.

Too many people will have overlooked this as just another run of the mill american comedy...it is so much more, I implore everyone to give this a chance :D

There's sex in it?!? Must have passed me by ;)

TBH...it wouldn't matter if there was no nudity, it's the story and characters that hooked me to this...it's been a very long time since there was such a well written and acted comedy.

Didnt expect to like it but i did really enjoy the first season, plenty of great moments and the bit with the vomit/painting cracked me up. Looks like season two starts on the 28th of this month in the US, cant wait :).

My first reaction was that it was a dream as well, great show though, hopefully the second season will carry the same momentum.

I think they gave the go ahead for a second series just before the writers strike.

It is indeed an awesome show, would be cool if they came back but it's not needed really.

Its back on the 29th September folks (although the first two eps were leaked some time ago), and yes its probably the best sitcom/drama to come in a LONG time.

The writing is just exceptional, the conversations seem really, well real!? Not much place for a second season imo, but I'll still watch it.

I too have watched the first series over the past 2 days!

A friend gave it to me under the description of 'some guy having lots of sex with very good looking women'. But there is obviously much more to it! Very well written and just very good all round. Absolutley loved it and will be trying to get my mits on the second series :)

Chuck isn't very well written, or acted at all... mostly. Infact the ongoing episode by episode story is pretty crap, most of the stories are ridiculous and most of the comedy is at the ridiculous level, however it has its good moments and some genuinely brilliantly funny moments, but aren't that many of them.

The difference between a show with a few fantastic jokes and lots of crud and lots of terribly cliched writing and something thats mostly great start to finish like Curb and Californication is like night and day tbh.

Its very good, CAli that is, mostly due to a freakingly awesome cast that is the perfect constrast of characters.

Got to be a tough tough season on them though, Natascha McElhone (karen) lost her husband IIRC, an english doctor i think he was, and Duchovny is being treated for his sex addiction, which in this role has to be a freaking nightmare, though one I'd happily live through.

Not quite sure how long the series can keep going, either he gets together with Karen, then its over, or he continues going after her while banging everyone else which eventually will become fairly stale as a storyline for the series.

I find it hillarious that in real life he has been admitted to a hospital for a sex addiction! (Not in a haha you have a problem funny, but anyone who has watched Californication wil lagree). It just fits the character perfectly.

Never heard of this site before but a quick google shows loads and this came out top of the list.

Californication is a funny series with many many hot women in it, I agree that the second series is a bit pointless though...

Really enjoyed the first series - not got to watching the second yet because the wife doesn't like it - I have to wait until she's asleep!
