2008 Italian GP - Race 14/18

Avoiding DC for a race is a achievement, controlling the race and only being under threat from hamilton whos strategy was undone by a lack of forcast rain is great.

Yeh, whats up with that, Messiah obviously out of favour with his father?

Glad Vettel won this one. I would have loved to have seen it rain and Hamilton take it but a better overall drive over the course of the weekend won it so I'm happy.

Yes.

And isnt Herman Tilke a company not a bloke?

And most of their designs have been good, Turkey, Bahrain, etc
According to wiki he is a man! The company is Tilke Engineering.

I think most of the hate for the guy comes from what he's done to Hockenheim.

Oh and that Valencia track which was the worst GP race in the most ugly GP location I've ever seen!!

Yeah he did well to ruin Hockenheim and never lost that stigma - how the heck do you get into such a cool job :) - missed the Valencia GP - was it really that bad (circuit)?

Did we have a reason for Hamiltons drop in pace though in the latter stages? Was it the tyres?

In his interview he's said he was just going to settle for the place he had. Clearly because he was on his 2nd engine and didn't want a repeat of last week.

pretty much, turkey is his only good track in my opinion

china, bahrain, malaysia, hockenheim, valencia are all either mediocre or poor

Winning in those kind of weather conditions is an achievement...

Just remember it was the spray that was holding most people back (and caused the field spread) - which Vettel never had to contend with

That imo is a huge benefit

Great guy and good drive - lets see what happens when he moves to RB team for real next season

Just remember where you were when a Minardi won a GP - that to me is MUCH more special than Hamiton winning the championship

That was EPIC!!!

Easy tiger.

Ferrari are competing for the WDC and leading the Constructors title. Their engine is touted as being the most powerful in F1.

Toro Rosso are using this engine.

Minardi never had the privilege of using, say a Renault engine (which was the most powerful engine in F1, when Williams-Renault were dominating), when they were racing. So, he didnt quite win in a Minardi.

Its a magnificent win, though. But I always knew that Vettel was "all that". I even stated a while back, that he really should be driving alongside Hamilton in a McLaren and I was ridiculed for suggesting that - apparently Heikki was some fantastic driver, even though he seemed to consistently lack race pace.

itv brush over lewis being rude and putting people off the track
shocking really lol

Nothing wrong with that.

If you are the best, then you must believe you are the best and that you have the right to bully people on/off the track.

Senna used to do this and we know that MS used to do this, to such a point that he won World Drivers titles as a result. And now Hamilton is doing it. Webber will think twice next time, when he comes across Hamilton on the track.

If you are the best driver in F1, you have every right to expect lesser drivers (such as Webber), to move over.

Also remember that by the 2nd lap he was already 2secs ahead of Kova in 2nd and was pulling away, so quite quickly whatever spray his was throwing up would have dissipated and not affected Kova - whatever was happening behind Kova really isnt Vettels responsibility/fault and...

Anyway Im bored of justifying the win - so Ill leave it at that - Im sure FrankJH when we see you in Singapore winning by driving backwards it will put this win into perspective ;):p

minardi used ferrari engines at some point i think?

But at that time, those Ferrari engines were ridiculously unreliable. Also, they were not the most powerful engines in F1. Morever, the customer engines were a shadow of the engines being used in the Ferrari cars.

Its similar to when Ford supplied engines to Bennetton. MS/Bennetton got the best engines, while the other teams that Ford supplied got lesser engines. It was part of Bennetton's contract that they would be the only team to receive Ford's best engines.

Good race, congrats Vettel! It was also good seeing Hamilton make his way up the positions :), Kubica deserves more praise than he got from the commentators as well I think.

you dont barge people off or change line in the braking zone
he caused an avoidable accident so i expect it to be looked at like heikki in belgium
