Does anyone have one of these?

What do you think of it and what is the photo quality like? Are there any better printers in this price range also?

Thanks for any help.

Yes.

Its one of the best you get both IMO and reviews.

Peeps claim Epson are cheapest to run which is true but the Canon Ink last longer so its £1 v £2 for non branded Refills which I dont/wont use as I'm into quality over quantity so buy Canon Ink at a good price elsewhere.

You ideally only buy the "R" if you want Wifi, you pay a premium still today over the MP600.

The MP600R retains as a current model due to the Wifi but the MP600 (and in reality MP600R) have been replaced by the (uglier as mostly silver) MP610 which claims higher OPTICAL Scanning and better Photo Printing due to some Blue aspect.

There is also a MP620 and MP630 due in Oct 2008 (again mostly silver). :(

I spent most of my time printing .Docs and CD/DVD's which come out great. :)

Yeah, I have this.

I can't give any accurate comparisons since its the only printer I own, but I can vouch for the speed of the printing (fast!) and I've printed plenty of photos out on it on photo paper that look great

Scanning and photocopying are incredibly slow. I dont find this too much of an issue because its pretty rare i actually want to do this and I dont mind waiting.

Wifi works, though the setup is a bit of a pain because you have to physically connect it to all the computers it will wifi to so it can learn about it, Its setup now though and is in the corner of the room.

I got the R because there was no room around the computer for it and i didnt want to track a lot of cables.

Its a decent printer

Pete

I don't need the wireless really, is the MP600 the same as the R, but without wireless?

Hmm, or I could get the MP610?

Basically, I want the best all-in-one printer I can get for under £200.

Yes MP600R is Wifi version of MP600.

I advise you compare the spec's using the option on that Canon site above.

I added the MP600R and MP610 to the Compare list but it shows PRICES so cant post here but they are sky high from Canon but you still pay over the odds for the MP600R as of Wifi and the MP600 is a non current model as the MP610 took over.

Well all I can say is what I did above but remember the MP600 and MP600R were newer then so there was no other models to throw in the mix apart from the very high end £££ Pro model.

Today it would be harder as of the MP610 and soon MP620 and MP630 models are in the mix but I hate the new mainly silver look (esp the front panels as the black hides the joins and makes it look 1 piece and cleaner). :)

Yep, comparing the MP610 and MP630 (MP620 doesn't do CD/DVD printing) there is hardly any difference at all.

A competitor has the MP630 on pre-order for the 25th September, so I may as well pre-order one.

Mine came with a USB cable and all 5 CART's, (you need unseal the Seperate Print Head and cart's and install them). :)

Where did you read that (and I would not buy from Canon anyhow as too £££).

I'm looking at it on Pre Order from the "Big Rain Forest) right now. ;)

Damn that MP630 is sleek, would look great in mainly black or total black. :)

if you're finding the ink costs too much, invest in a continious ink system, well worth it in the long run, even for a multipurpose.

I haven't read it anywhere, but on the big rainforest I can't see anywhere where it says one is included.

And I'm pre-ordering from there :)
