i've heard lots of people and experts saying this is a myth and i was just wondering what you guys think.

are there people on this forum that consider their diet bad or worse yet have perfectly clear skin?

Yep, drink loads of water. You may just have greasy skin though. I only started getting spots when I was 17. It's now eased off a lot so only the odd one every now and again under my hair.

can't get rid of the blighters, must be a hormone thing in my case, there is no change whether i'm eating chocolate and fast food and drinking alcohol for months, or more recently eating extremely healthy and eating no chocolate or sweets, very little fat and not drinking alcohol for a few months. similarly, using any number of cleansing products compared to just using just water has no effect, same with shaving or not shaving.

I found cleansers to be next to useless. Instead, I used aftershave to burn the ******* off. Suprised I haven't been left with scars. :p

yeah this is kind of my point. i'm not a spotty person really, but i find my chin, nose and forehead are prone to them, the 't' zone i believe. and yeah, basically i find that there never seems to be any difference whether i'm eating really healthy or not.

As a kid/teen I grew up on a lot of cheeeeeese! Cheddar and strong mature mostly and I was a spotty goit. I eventually began eating it much less during my college days and my skin cleared up a great deal then.

Seems to be mostly oily, high fat and sugary foods that make me come out in spots. Hardly had any zits since my uni days tbh.

Wash your face lots. I mean, actually wash your face. Not a splash of water. With several good soaks of your face.

Also, eating fruit and veg seems to help.

Water helps a lot I find.

I've had quite bad Acne over the years, hence my face being like a trench encampment.

As stated, stress I find can make spots turn up easier though...Which I can understand now judging by my earlier years as a teen.

If I sit there and eat loads of random foods, kinda greasy, too much dabbling with chocolate, and cakes...I find they come around easier.

But I've been on Anti-biotics now for god knows how long...They kinda help.

I eat healthily and get spots, despite doing lots of exercise and drinking massive amounts of water.

I can't get rid of spots, and wouldn't prefer the side effects of the prescription medicines, but I've found they go down considerably when:

I drink no milk. Greasy food/dark chocolate(not dairy) don't seem to make any difference
Stress - Around results day my spots were terribly bad, they've now cleared up.

My current tip is to use savlon if you get recurring spots. I kept getting them just under my jawbone at the back, and wiping savlon over them has since cleared them completely - although it hasn't worked so well on the rest of my face, and I'm reluctant to completely coat myself in the stuff!

Basically, if you don't care about them too much, so get less stressed about them, it almost helps itself.

I always had more spots than most other people I know (and large ones that last days) - At 35 you would think they would have gone, but I still get them if I eat specific things. I just know how to control them now. And washing, cleansing, scrubbing, sweating, dirt, etc makes absolutely no difference to how many spots I get.

If I eat the following things I get spots (usually around my chin, jawline and cheeks) within a couple of days......

1.) Sausages.
2.) Salami, Chirozo, cooked spiced meats.
3.) White Chocolate
4.) Cheese
5.) Yogurt.
6.) Greasy Chips.

Also, if I have a cold, or some sort of infection - spots will appear. And if I get a few nights of little or no sleep, my spots will re-appear. In fact, I can usually predict when spot will appear simply by checking what I eat.

I swear chocolate used to give me more.

There MUST be some sort of link between diet and spots - of course I am not saying you dont get spots if you eat healthily, I had to be put on roaccutane in my school days.

Eating KFC's, chips, takeaways etc etc can only have a negative effect.

I was washing 3-4 times a day due to greasy face, I also found a mini face sauna made me feel better (coupled with a shower of course). No idea if it would help the spot issue though.
I get very dry skin, so washing with soap 4 times a day was horrible (especially when shaving too).

Can't say mine give me any side effects...My tablets that is.
