Just watched this and was a cracking race with rossi seeming to come out on top, but what the hell is going on now, what a mess this has been since they came in, nice infrastructure they seem to have going on over there.

It was indeed a good race and the results are now final.

Quite spectacular weather conditions! Racing on the back end of a hurricane! I feel a bit wimpy what with being a fair weather biker :P

What happened to JT? He went from 11th to 8th then to 16th? God knows where he finished.

That weather looks as though its getting worse, hayden looks in extreme pain from his various injuries and just haha at rossi giving his coat to the promo girl.

JT was essentially dead last, only beating Melandri.

Did you see those airbags blowing in the wind held down by a few poxy sandbags? They did not look in any way substantial enough to prevent you slamming into the race track wall even if there were held down properly. Also it would have surprised me at all if someone came off they would just slide under the things and into the wall. Is it me or do the americans take a somewhat lacsidasical approach to motor sports safety. I'm thinking of the shenanigans that goes on in the pit lane at most Nascar and Indrcar races, wheels rolling about, people jumping over walls, always looks like the Keystone cops to me.

That would be the same NASCAR that has mandated an entirely new car design based around making it safer for the drivers? The same NASCAR that now mandates SAFER (Steel And Foam Energy Reduction) barriers at all ovals? Yes, the pitlane can look a bit disorganised at times (though tyres going AWOL isn't exactly a constant occurance), but to say that this indicates that they don't give a toss about safety is a tad out of line.

Boring Nascar aside...

It was an ok race, I never find wet races all that good, riders tip toeing around etc. Rossi clearly had the pace, Stoner had nothing. Hayden was at home in the land of the free, riding around with a cowboy hat while firing his gun in the air - I gotta say he has to be one of the worst world champions, whats he won like 4 races now? in 4 years with only 2 the year he won.

I am glad they didnt go for the 5 lap dash at the end, would had been ultra cruel if Rossi didnt win for whatever reason.

Also, isnt NASCAR the birthplace of the HANS Device?

I know they went for it in a big way after Dale Earnhardt died, not sure if they were the instigators of the project though. Think it existed before Dale's crash.

Cracking race. Was abit dissapionted when they was saying they would ahve to do the 6-8lap sprint but glad it was overturned.

Did any of you hear the comentry after the 250 race was called off? That was funny:p

"Rossi goes down" ahaha:D

I think NASCAR where the last big series to make it mandatory, i think it was CART that was big on it. I think one of the creators was involved with CART/Indy and then it was CART that made it mandatory first i think.

Just looked it up. NASCAR made using either the HANS device or the Hutchens device an ironclad rule from October '01, with the HANS being mandated from 2005. The Aussie V8 Supercars made it mandatory in '05 as well.

.

Since Danni Pedrosa joined the team Hayden has been acting as a test rider for him. The majority of people in the Paddock are disgusted at the way he has been treated by Honda.

Been quite funny listening to him over the weekend.
Good interview here from crash.net about life in the Repsol Garage

I had the Beeb on rather than Eurosport for this race and they were on about Hayden. I liked the comment of will you be riding for Honda the rest of the season. So long as they don't lock the door on me. Though he said they might not notice me missing or something like that ;)

I couldn't believe how they thought about the sprint. Suzi nearly got blown down the pit and they showed a Yamaha hospitality tent blown down - looked nasty.

Toseland said he went on hard tyres as they thought it would rain again or something and basically they were knackered really early on. He said the wind was mega difficult to deal with aswell.

Still Rossi wins and thats what I like to see :) Good skills by all of them though respect.
