Thats the important thing, sales figures are all good and well (remember Age of Conan was the quickest selling MMO ever, beating even WoWs initial sales), but its the retention thats important. The key to success is what percentage of those sales are still active players after the first couple of months. AoC suffered from ENORMOUS player loss in the early months, something like 62% of their userbase left in the first 90 days (cant remember the exact figure as I am at work, but I have it at home).

Having said that (and yes I am biased on this), I think that WAR has the right ingredients to ensure a healthy retention rate.

Hello,

Recieved my key today from the jersey place, and set off the WAR european open beta client, Ive opened up the ports as its suggested, however it does seem to be stalling, the program looks like a torrent style downloader, as it wants to upload.

I Imagine it will be fairly busy, has anyone expierenced problems connecting. It keeps saying 'Problems connecting, please check your network settings'.
 
No, I am talking about the Game download, As I have recieved just the KEY alone. When running the war europe downloader, it seems to be staalling currently at 35kb/s and 19 hours to go. Anyone else had this issue... please let me know.

Yeah think it will do a lot better. The initial problem with AoC was not just that people weren’t happy with the game but I think a lot were annoyed that it was so buggy, WAR doesn’t seem to suffer from this.
 
Getting a bit fed up with this now. Had to queue for 40 mins to get onto the server and then I get disconnected for no apparent reason and have to sit back in the queue again. This is going to be insane when the retail copies go live.

I waited 50 minutes and crashed :)
 
why don't you just roll on an empty server?

Are all servers full both order and destro?

If so they'll need to implement a 30 minute AFK auto logout.

I think it's great that they are making sure of an even spread of numbers.

Currently it seems to be the Destro sides with the massive login queues. Lots of servers with just medium order - so insta logon and near insta scenarios - which is nice :D
It really looks like this game will buck the "WoW" trend, and see the majority head for Destro. It was the same in beta and the same in headstart, and looking at most forums - the majority of guilds state they are going destro too.
