If someone is on JSA and their mobile phone company gives them £10 cashback, do they have to declare it as income?

Similarly, if you get say £120 on your birthday from parents/family which has only been earned through their respective jobs, again, is it classed as income?

Do you know what happens if you declare that? That's right, they won't pay you the equivalent amount. Just leave it to yourself.

AND GET A JOB

Interesting, also to Knives, JSA is for people looking for a job!

The reason I ask is because of this data matching nonsense and bank account checking. Imagine this scenario: A random Experian credit check reveals mobile phone contract used for job calls. They contact bank for statements, £10 cashback shows up, inland revenue anti corruption team jumps on the case and you get kicked off JSA plus 5k fine, and request for JSA repayments to be returned. The interesting thing here is that it is not new income, it is just marketing by the mobile phone companies to make their deals seem cheaper :)

Aahahaha, that's what you think! The JSA is THE benefits system of choice for dole scroungers. :p

Maybe so, but I don't think anyone will get rich anytime soon off £30 a week, food is all it covers ;) Maybe if they lived in a scandinavan country, the benefit would be more than a paid job :p

I think it's like £50 a week now.

"This guy came up to me from some band and he said that 'Man, I'd hate to be you right now, no privacy at all' and I was thinking, 'Sure thing man, I have a ****ing Rolls Royce, a million dollars in the bank, a ****ing mansion and my own jet and you think you'd feel sorry for me? What are you? I'd hate to be you, broke as hell living in the dole.'"

;)

If you are on contribution based job seekers allowance then bank activity is none of their business.

if you are on income based jsa i think they can look into it.

however for 10 quid.. there isnt a chance in hell you would get any trouble from it.

wouldnt worry about it

ive heard of people working and still claiming their jobseekers, now thats bad

I'm pretty certain you don't have to declare gifts although their is a limit on the amount that you can give a person in a single year I think it's around 3k :o.

i dont think people should get job seekers allowance i studies hard for everything i have got why should i subsidise all the bums who could not be bothered to learn a skill when at school. total waste of time

Yeah thats right. Everyone on jobseekers has no skills.

Learn to use capital letters in your sentances. Put your school skills in to practice boy.

Then when you have something intelligent to say, come back and do so.

Hedge dont go there. I take it your on jobseekers ? My gammer gets a tad out after a few vodka's so take a chil pill or should i subsidise you for one of those as well ?
