I wonder if TheStig1 has seen GP2 or any form of Touring Car races?

At the end of the day if other drivers can't hack the way Lewis overtakes, then perhaps they need to quit and move to a more gentle motor sport (and right now I cant think of one).

Top drivers make a name for themselves by driving fast and having the ability to overtake people. So much so, that eventually, other drivers actually pannick when they find that MS, G.Villeneuve, Senna or Hamilton are behind them and yield their position easier. The same goes for back markers. Senna was legendary at this - other drivers seemingly moved over for him. For this to happen though, he had to make some pretty aggressive moves on the track. Hamilton is currently doing that and will soon (if he hasnt already) have a reputation of being uncompromising and not to be messed with on the track.

Its been a long time since we have seen someone as aggressive as Hamilton (even MS used to prefer to overtake in the pits and not on-track) and other drivers are just going through a period of adjustment, to allow for such aggression/skill. Had they been around in the late 80's (Senna, Mansell, Piquet), they wouldn't be complaining about Hamilton, as they would already be used driving alongside aggressive drivers.

Overtaking is a skill and right now, Hamilton is showing that he is one of the best in the business when it comes to overtaking. I only hope that he doesnt get soft and start yielding to the criticism of lesser drivers such as Glock.

Alonso is also making the comment of Hamilton being aggressive, however, at no stage does he state that Hamilton is wrong in doing this. If Alonso had a Ferrari and was racing wheel to wheel with Hamilton, you can bet that both of them would go at it lap after lap, performing overtaking moves that probably no one else currently in F1 could make stick. Alonso dislikes Hamilton and likes to talk badly of Hamilton...thats the only reason why he made those comments. I can tell though, Alonso is itching to compete and beat Hamilton - he just needs a better car.

you win the thread

BTCC is awesome racing.

Touring Cars are a little less fragile :D than a modern F1 car [although watching DC this season you would not think so]

I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

People have forgotten what proper overtaking in F1 is. So when some happens, they get all scared and throw spears at it and run away shouting, much like that undiscovered tribe in the Amazon.

I'm glad Hamilton is showing aggression and annoying other drivers. It means he wont just be a World champion but a multi world champion winning many titles.

When he came in everyone was saying he was to nice and complained. Now he's showing the aggression of a true world champion, people are still complaining. Make up your minds.

yet no pics of gp2? lol gp2 is stricter on the rules than f1 is and they dont go round banging wheels either

tin top racing is quite different to open wheeled racing you know

We will never know.

I doubt it. To do what Hamilton does is a skill and if it was that easy, then everybody would overtake and defend their positions using these techniques. Only the best drivers of the past have had these skills and Glock certainly isnt one of them.

glock has done pretty well in that car i think
i bet he would look much better in a mclaren just like lewis

Because comparing touring cars to F1 when it comes to contact makes sense.....

Bit of wheel rubbing OK, but full on rear enders and broadsides = No.

why is so difficult for people to acknowledge Hamilton has talent.

No one is saying is other worldy, just talented. Vettel is almost equally as talented I'd say from what I've seen
