Do you drink a warm glass of milk before you go bed?

I've been doing this recently and seen a massive improvement in my sleep. I no longer toss and turn. I just clonk out within ten minutes when i'm in bed in a deep sleep ready for the next morning feeling refreshed.
If you haven't done so, you should try it :)
Oh, and Horlicks also works wonders too :)

Yes, there's science behind it. Warm milk contains a decent amount of tryptophan, which boosts serotonin (5-HT) production in the brain upon ingestion. Serotonin (amongst other neurotransmitters) regulates the body's sleep/waking cycle and thus a boost at bedtime can help you nod off :D

Don't get me wrong I like milk (cold) but do you ever suddenly think about where it actually comes from?

I do that with meat sometimes too and I look at it think this was actually living flesh from an animal  Maybe I'm turning vedgy

I soon forget and finish my meal ;)

Urban myth i'm afraid. There isn't enough tryptophan in milk to increase the levels in your brain. There was a similar thing about the turkey at christmas/thanksgiving making you drowsy, because it has a fair amount of tryptophan in it. I think i saw it on a Penn and Teller episode, you need to drink 4 gallons of milk to get a sedative dose. I can't stand warm milk, tastes really wierd.
