Been at it a couple of weeks but can't find much I want, when I do it is either sold or they offer me a farcical p/ex

I found one last week, good spec, good price and a just about acceptable p/ex price but it was Gatwick wasy so couldn't get till Sunday, rang Say afternoon to confirm and he had sold it that morning

Just wondering whether to list the M3 privately and hopefully that will make car hunting easier as a cash buyer

any advice ?

also what should I list the M3 at ?

Sorry to be of no help mate but what car are you looking at

May help if you give a basic spec of the car too ....

Sam

Been looking for Cayman S or Boxster S ( with Bose ) , maybe a SLK55

budget to £30k , well £15k + mine

open to other suggestions

my M3

BMW M3 Coupe SMG, 2003/52 , 49k miles , Harmon Kardon, Autochanger, Centre armrest , 19 inch CSL wheels ( 6 months old, no kerbing ) , Eibach Pro spring kit ,tyres 6mm plus, Siver with grey leather , no SatNav

recent Inspection 2 ,
9k+ to next service which is the minor one , full BMW service history ,
excellent condition

Been at it for weeks?!

Dude I was looking at cars for god knows how long THEN decided what I wanted and spent 3 months picking one :p

There's plenty of time ;) - It's a buyers market afterall!

what people on pistonheads ask for and what they get are different things. He'll be waiting a long time for 20k if he gets it at all

Rotty, I think you'll do well to get 15k for your car.

Similar spec, from a dealer with 31k on the clock, £14950:

If you want a quick sale, ask £14k and take £13.5k would be my suggestion. Only £1500 lower than you want and your head is less melted.

On a brighter note, there is this 2006 Cayman S for £27k:

Or this 2007 Boxster S for £28k

The problem is as somebody else said "It's a buyers market".
So great, it means you can get some bargains and sellers are willing to negotiate a bit etc.
However it seems dealers are being extremely "stingy" with trade-ins.
We all know that you will only realise the best price for your car by selling it rather than doing a trade-in.
However it can be awkward, especially if you need the money from your old car for the new one.

It's a buyers market and the dealers don't seem to want to "buy" anything in.

Not in the same league as the buying/selling planned by the OP - but although I managed to get a good enough deal on my recent vRS purchase, I know I've been royally ******* on my trade-in.

.

very true, the good bit from my point of view is that there is nothing wrong with my current car so if they don't give a good deal I will just walk and keep the M3
