Hi,

Got my new 280GTX less than a week ago. Been working fine - shutdown PC last night - tried to boot just - red light on the card no output.

Checked all the leads etc still nothing.

PSU is Enermax Galaxy 1Kw, Intel Bad Axe 2, Quad Core CPU, 4Gbs Ram,3x HD,2 X Optical a few fans.

PSU should be more than enough I would have thought. All other fans, devices seem powered just no output and no beeps.

Duff card? Whats RMA procedure with this is it back to OCUK or BFG. I'm losing faith in BFG as my 8800GTX is up for RMA at the moment (glitch issues - 18 months old) and they still havent sorted it (which is why I got the 280 in the 1st place).

Cheers

Another one.. I'm loosing hope and not too sure if I still want that GTX280...
Choose something else than BFG. EVGA, Gainward maybe...

Update.

Just put my 8800GTX back in and it works fine (well it worked fine except for glitchs before) so that shows the 2 6pin PCI are powering so I would have expected it to boot on the 280 and maybe moan.

Real bummer been working great for the last few days. I stuck with Nvidia as my 8800 had been great but wondering now if I should have gone for a 4870 X2 instead.

Oh well phone time I guess see what the score is.

Does sound like the card, although i do wonder about these 280GTX and whether they are fussy about PSU's

As my 630W couldn't power one when there cards min spec is 550w

I got the same red light.

Mine went back as unwanted, as the card was fine just needed a beefy PSU which I couldn't afford a new PSU at the moment and mine is not that old

The 280GTX requires 1x 6 pin and 1x 8 pin. Are you sure its not the 8pin lead tha'ts faulty?

Well its been running in my PC for 6 days since I received it. Today is day 7. It hasn't been touched moved etc. I am using the 2x6Pin to 8pin convertor and then an additional 6 pin. I have no way to check or prove if the 8 pin convertor has suddenly gone duff without being touched etc.

If an Enermax Galaxy 1KW PSU isn't enough what the hell is? But it has been working for 6 days flawlessly.

I've emailed OCUK to see what I can do.

I got the red light yesterday on installing my new GTX280 on a 700W Epsilon. I've stripped out the psu and I'm waiting for the man to knock on my door with an Akasa 1200W.

The rest of your spec is not unlike mine. Is your cpu overclocked? I checked my psu requirements and it suggested a psu of at least 840W.

is the red light on the 8-pin socket? if it is, if you email enermax they can send you a modular 8-pin connector which should work

Running mine with the spec below at 3Ghz on a Corsair HX620.

Total load in 3D is less than 300 Watts running Crysis which includes losses at the socket. Unless you are running a heavily clocked 65nm Quad you should be fine.

CPU is at 2.9 (11 x 266) rather than factory 10 x 266 - thats all. And yes the light just shows at the end of the card not next to a power socket.

Just going to echo this, spec as my per sig and the most it draws during a heavy session of Crysis is 370w full load.
