I gouged his eyes out!!

What sort of *BH is this? It's pretty cruel, but it's not murder. And there was incentives behind it, it wasn't just a random attack. I'm surprised he even got 4.5 years tbh, should have sent him to a sharia court.

Morba, welcome to New England :)

We should give people equal sentences to what they have caused to the victims, I'm not saying gauge his eyes out too...But atleast make his life as hurtfull as possible.

Granted, he may have been on good behaviour, but for a start, he needs more counciling before leaving, people aren't just magically sane over night, anything can make them go back to they're old ways.

The person obviously isn't rite in the head.

people get killed in much nicer ways than getting having scissors stabbed in your eye sockets!

What an animal, there is no justice.

I just don't uderstand:-

"Jonathan Goodman, defending, said the attack that night had not been planned and was not pre-meditated."

but he went armed with a pair of scissors and a knife , that's pre-meditated!

scissors  I think anyone convicted of a brutal attack should have their living address published somewhere and kept up to date. I certainly would not want to live near any of these nutters.

I'm sorry but anyone who gouges someones eyes out with their fingers (!) does not deserve to be let back into normal society for at least 10 years and after extensive counselling). 4.5 years is a joke.

It's "sentences" like this that make you even wonder why we bother having a judicial system at times.

A man that is now blind for the rest of his life, and a man that will more than likely serve no more than 4 and a half years behind bars for the attack.

I know which man I'd rather be.

I can't see that as justice at all.

Do people still believe in an eye for an eye?

you have to plan before the attack beings for it to count, he came home found him, attacked him, then went off to get scissors.
