Should have been given an indeterminate sentance TBH.
no wonder why people do these things, there is no deterrent!

Tefal: what exactly was he charged with? As there are maximum sentences for most things.

Seems like a fair sentence to me. 9 years is an awfully long time.
yes , it was this part i was commenting on
As it made no exemption for circumstances.
This is what he pleaded to: pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and was jailed for nine years
And told this: He was told he must serve at least half the sentence of nine years jail before being considered for parole.
Which I believe people are just reading it and going "omgz he's only got 4.5 years"...When in fact its just 4.5 years before he's even considered parole...If in fact he will be is a different matter![]()
Depends which way you look at it.
You have to be in an overpowering position to be able to do that,
Seems like a fair sentence to me. 9 years is an awfully long time.
He hasn't though it was halved to 4.5 years...

life in prison should mean life
or at least until they are too old to have any dignity left and unable to make anything of the rest of their time on this earth
It is too shot. An eye for an eye and all
If he same thing happened to me I would want him to be punished more than me. Even his death would not satisfy me. He should be blinded also painfully, then we would be even. As for the punishment...
Not even in self defense?

Was the incident in question self-defence?
