Armed Assualt - Feels very laggy...or is that just the game.

I started playing this today but it feels very laggy....the game feels like its one step behind me and it feels like the fps is very low.

I don't have the best of laptops but here is what i have: T7520, 8600GTm, 4GB RAM, Vista 64bit.

I am trying to play at 1280*800, 16:10, Normal Quality setting.

Does anyone know the command to get the fps up so i can check it?

By correct settings he means , not trying to have detail settings too high
or screen res too high if your PC isnt UBER fast.

If it feels laggy you will definitley have to lower your settings.

Current patch version is 1.14 , performance improvements for lower end cards.
 
I don't want to sound too negative but I don't think that graphics chip will be able to run it with much eye candy. Best thing I can suggest is to turn down the view distance. The game struggled on my old 8800GTS until the patches came out, then it wasn't too bad. But I always thought you couldn't compare a laptop GPU chip -> normal graphics card??

Here's a quick test. If you run, does it feel laggy. But this time, look at your feet/ground. Does it speed up? (Smooth?)
 
I have a 8800 Mobile chip and it struggles to run ARMA on anything other than medium at 1680x1050 .. And afaik the 8600m chips is a lot worse.. so try it only very low settigns and slowly work your way up.. but the res is the biggest killer on that chip.
