Must be old if UK is now above all other european countires.
The important bit from that link: "Note that figures are simply estimates of population divided by total surface area and should not be considered either as reflecting density in the urban sense or as indicative of the ability of a territory’s land to support human habitation."
In other words, don't go comparing us and The Netherlands with small city states like Macao, Monaco or Singapore.
Well, apparently England is above other European countries - not the UK as a whole.
Well sure, but the figure for the UK isn't dissimilar to Germany's. I don't think it's anything to be alarmed about.![]()

The thing that is most alarming is that forecasts predict we'll be even more overcrowed in 20 years time..
I love the way this is apparently big news according to the BBC, I mean did they suddenly stumble upon the population and land mass figures and a calculator when they got in this morning? In other news, tide comes in this morning.
Seriously though, we have a population comparable in size to france in a country half the size and have had for some time, this shouldn't be news to anyone with half a brain.
Germany: 232 ppkm2
England: 395 ppkm2
I said the UK. Otherwise you might as well get even more arbitary, and just say "Southern England" which will have an even more massive population density.
In any case - it's not anything to be alarmed about on its own. It's a meaningless figure.
